They need to be aggressive and look to get up and get that #2 pick.

Don't sit on your hands and hope your guy is there at #3, there will be teams lurking trying to trade up in front of the Bears to possibly nab that guy at #2.

I would do what the Rams and Eagles did last year and make my move early if I can and secure that #2 spot where I can pretty be assured that I will have my choice at the QB's.

I would trade a future 3rd round pick to move up and make sure I got Trubisky (my guy)...Pace should do so if he likes him or Watson.

Another genius idea.......trading up just one spot

Can the draft be over already?

One spot is the difference between possibly getting your QB for the next decade. Means it will cost you less to move up.

Genius if you ask me.

It will cost more than a future 3rd round pick if any other team behind the bears is interested in Trubisky.

That depends. If San Fran is interested in a guy like Hooker, Thomas Lattimore or even Foster (a guy they have been linked too), the Bears literally offer an option where they can still get the guy they want plus a pick. Teams like the Jets, Bills and Browns can't guarantee that they get the guy they want and get extra picks.

Yes it will. I think it cost the Browns a 4,5 and a future 4 to move up one spot to pick Richardson.

But is worth it if Pace identifies his franchise QB.

I think browns did this for a rb. What did they trade to Vikings a 3? Or more?

If San Fran does this they could still trade out of their pick again. There are many qb starved teams

You're not wrong but this won't happen before the draft. I know there's a lot of talk of the 49ers wanting to trade down but I doubt they pull the trigger until the possibility that Garrett being there has past. I've already posted the same scenario and it would be to block another team from trading ahead of you to get the QB.

Texans and Redskins did a one spot move last year.
"He was a guy that we felt strongly about," Texans GM Rick Smith told the Houston media on Thursday night. "We didn’t want to take a chance on not getting him. We were aggressive. We went and made the move.”

The Redskins’ official explanation did reveal much.

“There was a lot of phone calls being made and Bruce and Scot were talking to a lot of different teams and a lot of different options,” said head coach Jay Gruden. “That’s the best one that we felt was available to us.”

I think it could still happen before the draft but more like in a week.

I don't understand why people are willing to move up several draft spots but not one to get the guy you want. What is the difference? There is a real risk of a team jumping us to grab the QB we want. Rather than get caught out, I would rather just go and make sure we have the opportunity to pick who we want.

It's not enough to reach forca QB at 3?

Now we trade several picks to do so?

We come out of this draft with very little other than a ab that will sit?

Why dont we refer to Trade Up Clowns?

Ask Ommy.... he's in charge of those decisions.

If the Bears come out of this draft with "only" their franchise QB...that would be the Bears most successful draft since they drafted Walter Payton.

I think you have to accept the risk that SF may pick a QB and live with it.

Let's look at this backwards.

If the Bears had the number 2 pick and had their franchise QB decided, would Pace risk throwing that all away to move back 1 spot for a measly 3rd round pick?

Because if SF actually wanted Trubisky they'd just take him. They wouldn't not take him because the Bears gave them a 3rd rounder. If they traded to someone else, they'd get more than a 3rd rounder. And if they didn't want him he'd be there at #3. What am I missing?

Well if they are taking a QB, this scenario isn't relevant. If a team was set on a QB, why would they trade down.

This is a hypothetical scenario where if SF is taking offers (sounds likely), the Browns select Garrett (extremely likely) and the Bears have their eyes on a QB (looking more and more likely) then the Bears need to beat all other teams to the punch and secure that #2 pick to get their QB.

It really doesn't matter what it cost. Nothing should be off limits for your franchise QB.

If they're targeting a specific QB, there is no limit on what they should do to make sure they get him. With SF looking to trade down, OP is exactly right that any number of teams could jump in front of the Bears and get their guy.
