There seems to be a consensus that he is the right guy.

I'm sure plenty of people will be talking about how he was always the wrong guy for some reason or another. Too nerdy, not a leader of men, etc.

Unfortunately, if the Bears do hire him, i'm going to have to wonder from the jump if he's indeed a bad head coach for no other reason than the Bears being interested in hiring him.

You know theyll bullshit their way out of it. Like how absolutely no one wanted Dan Quinn or Kingsbury and now they're apparently the best coaches in the world.

The Bears situation for a QB was amazing, now its total shit.

If he gets hired, at this moment it’s the right hire. Obviously if he gets fired in serval years it wouldn’t be.

No those posters will get @hyatt151 levels of dementia and act like they never liked Ben Johnson, and say we should have hired some random guy who ended up having success.

Don’t care who the hire is….if the bears don’t get turned around, it was the wrong hire and a failure. These teams have way more access and information into these guys than fans do…what fans want or think is a good idea is totally irrelevant….its the execs job to get it right. Results are all that matters…not hiring the “consensus” best guy. Mcvay was no teams consensus but worked out for the rams.

He’s not my top choice and I think he will fall short as a HC.

That said, I would completely understand the hire and if it doesn’t pan out, I wouldn’t at all
blame McCaskey, Warren or Poles.

Cunting… no. But if he’s a terrible coach in 4 years, he’s a terrible coach and we probably should be ready to move on. There are a handful of coaches I’d be happy with and won’t **** about.

Many years ago when the Bears traded for Cutler I applauded the decision. When the trade was made I said if it doesn't work out I can't blame the front office because at least they took a big swing.

I feel the same way about Ben Johnson. He is the consensus big name offensive guy out there this cycle. If the Bears hire him and he bombs I won't be too upset because by hiring him you're taking a big swing. Let's go for it!

If the next HC flops you’re setting the franchise back. Just get the hire right. If you get it wrong, that’s a failure, and someone is absolutely to blame (poles, mainly).

What the Bears don't need is another inexperienced HC....they just fired one. I've never been a huge fan of McCarthy but to me, he's the guy with the most boxes checked. Tons of experience, knows how to handle young QBs, knows how to win, knows the NFC North well, surely a great working relationship with a lot of coaches to fill in his staff, has almost always run a successful offense, knows what it takes to win in bad weather.....thats a ton of shit for some kid with no HC experience to have to learn on the fly. Sure, the kid runs a fancy offense but it takes a lot more than that to be a winning HC.
