Trade Larry Rothschild for Albert Pujols.

BTW: You can trade a coach for a player. In fact, the last Manager to be traded for a player was Lou Piniella.

Ugh, why do people insist on starting these kinds of "if we could grab anyone, who would it be" threads? There's really no point to them, both in the sense of the trades proposed being both realistic and applicable.

I don't know, I was hoping for realism, but knew it wouldn't happen so I just said they could make them unrealistic or realistic.

And then there's the obligatory "bag of baseballs for A-Rod" shit that just means absolutely nothing and is a waste of everyone's time.

I would try to get rid of Grabow and Zambrano. Come trade deadline time some teams are going to be looking to get some veterans no matter how bad. Zambrano would look good to the Yankees or the Red Sox and they could afford his contract. Grabow no matter how bad is a left handed veteran reliever and we could maybe get one or two low level prospects for him, and not superstar prospects by any means, but A level players who would cost us nothing after the season to release them.

Eh, if this was the last deal of Z's contract, or even if there was one year left, I could see the heavy hitters in the AL (Sawx, Yanks) being interested in Zambrano at the deadline. However, there are at least two more years of $17 million plus per year salary, with a vesting third year that may or may not be kicked in automatically should he be traded. IMO, that's way too much (even for the aforementioned heavy hitters) to commit to, even though they may be in need of pitching help.
