"Ignoring" people on a message board

OK... So this feature was available on one iteration of the CBMB and then they "upgraded" the board and the feature was lost... Which left several posters crying about it here and there for a few years... Fast Forward to today and several of us have adopted this board as our new home... This board has the vaunted ignore feature and some of you are using it already.

Anywho… My question is this… Why are you using an ignore feature?

IMO anybody who uses it is simply incapable of dealing with someone who has a different opinion than they do (childish, temper tantrum types) or they take their adopted board persona so seriously that you can’t laugh at trolls (lonely, pathetic, hero in their fake world types).

So to those of you that use the ignore feature… Are you childish, temper tantrum throwing babies (these are the ones who “report” people to the mods too) or are you so pathetic in real life that you can’t laugh at yourself a little with strangers on a MB or…

I love talking to people with different opinions that you can actually have a decent conversation with. Unfortunately many conversations on a forum quickly devolve from civil discourse into personal attacks. It's not like I give a flying **** what some random tool on the internet says about me, but I would rather not have to deal with it if I can avoid it. I come to places like this to take a break from my workday. It's like asking why you don't ask the annoying ****** two offices over to go with you to lunch. Why would you want to put up with some asshat on your lunch break? Has nothing to do with being a childish, temper tantrum throwing baby, for me anyways.

Ignore feature is an option, so it's up to you whether you want to ignore certain folks or laugh at/engage the cocksuckery. I personally haven't put anyone on ignore (I don't even think it's possible for moderators), I just skip right through after shaking my head

And there's a difference between engaging in a conversation with someone you disagree with and engaging in a conversation with someone who tries to start shit every single post they make.

I don't mind someone being an asshole sometimes (especially if that someone is me), but there are a few people here who are clearly here for the sole purpose of fucking with other people. I don't know if their daddy didn't hug them enough or what happened to them, but nothing good will come of reading anything they write or responding to them, so they get ignored.

Bottom line. A person comes to a messageboard for their entertainment. If someone, for WHATEVER reason negatively impacts their entertainment value, they have every right to put that person on ignore.

What I find pathetic are the people who are so desperate to ruin other people's entertainment that they berate and ridicule those who would use such a feature to enhance their entertainment value. At the end of the day, no one owes you or any other poster anything. Its their life, their entertainment.

You yelling about people shouldn't be so intolerant and put people on ignore is just stupid - let me come over to your house during a Bears game and put ice skating on and see how you react - same general concept. Putting asswipes who impact your entertainment on ignore is just like changing the channel from the OWN network back to the NFL.

So when you make a post and call him out by name, he has no way of getting you to read his response? Or could he PM you I guess?
