Wasn't sure it was going to happen a month or two ago, but the Hawks have managed to close the gap on the former conference-leading Wild and now sit atop the West standings although Minnesota still has a game in hand because of course they do. Tonight's challenger is 8 points clear of the final wild card spot but within one point of its division leaders (Montreal) and owns two games in hand, so the Senators have their own visions of home ice dancing in their minds. Ottawa has won seven of its last 10, but dropped its last outing against Tampa on Tuesday night. Life without Anisimov begins tonight, with Schmaltz now skating between the most lethal wing combo in the league. Forward depth will be tested over the next month, and it has its first chance to pass with flying colors north of the border this evening.
LET'S GO HAWKS!!
