Niko at SF against Brooklyn isn't a bad idea. They have almost no depth at SF. RHJ is out, and the Nets have been forced to run with 3 guards or 2 PFs no matter who they play.

i'd say its out of pure desperation to find something that works at SF

Tony Snell is an awful basketball player and Doug couldn't defend a lamp post

I think it's a combination of

A. Snell being terrible and Fred wanting some production at SF
B. The organization wants to give Niko every chance to succeed. That means, he needs minutes and to see the floor. They're not going to give up on him. But playing Niko at SF, makes it easier to
C. Open up more minutes for Bobby which is equally as important as Niko's development.

Snell is basically doing everything in his power to play himself out of the rotation and ultimately the team.
