1:20-12:10-1:20
Edinson Volquez, RHP
Stats
2-1, 5.67 ERA
Volquez is still struggling with his command (6.48 walks per nine innings), but he is coming off one of his strongest performances of the season. Volquez limited the Marlins to one run on two hits April 30.
Matt Garza, RHP
Stats
1-3, 3.96 ERA
Garza picked up his first win with the Cubs in his last start against the D-backs, giving up three runs on six hits over eight innings. He struck out 10, and finished April with a club-record 51 Ks for the month.
Bronson Arroyo, RHP
Stats
3-3, 4.17 ERA
The long ball plagued Arroyo in his last outing, as he surrendered three home runs in a loss to the Marlins. He had served up just four round-trippers in his previous five starts combined.
Casey Coleman, RHP
Stats
1-2, 7.36 ERA
Coleman is coming off a loss to the D-backs in which he gave up four runs on four hits and five walks over five innings. In two games last season vs. the Reds, he gave up six runs on 10 hits and two walks over nine innings but did not get a decision.
Johnny Cueto, RHP
Stats
0-0, -.-- ERA
Cueto will make his season debut after sitting out the first month with mild inflammation in his right shoulder. In four rehab starts with Triple-A Louisville, Cueto is 0-2 with a 6.28 ERA. Opponents have hit .311 against him.
Ryan Dempster, RHP
Stats
1-3, 8.05 ERA
Dempster didn't get the win in his last start, but it was definitely a relief. After lasting one-third of an inning on April 28, he notched his first quality start of the year against the Dodgers on May 3. He has the highest ERA of any NL starter.
