Beckham might not be a great offensive player, but defense counts. If Rios and Dunn could actually hit, Beckham's faults at the plate wouldn't be as noticable.

I think that's a good argument in support of Morel, but not so much for Becks. His .230ish and under .300 obp is inexcusable at this point. It's not unreasonable to expect better from him.

I agree with that. Beckham does need to step it up, but he is far from the biggest problem. His defense can't be duplicated. I'm convinced that if the Sox did trade him, he would become a great hitter.
