Again, people with the "ruining" him story....
He has always been who he is now. That is why McDaniels wanted to take a shot with Cassell. McDaniels was 100% correct on what jay was and the Broncos came out WAAAAYYYY ahead in that deal.
The Wide receivers didn't make his mechanics bad. The WRs don't make him hold the ball low and make him prone to fumbles. The WRs do not make him throw off his back foot. The WRs do not make him stare down one guy.
Sure- 09 was a mess. A mess that would have been easily forgotten if Jay had actually played well and learned how to protect the ball.
The game monday night was a great reminder of Jays unwillingness or inability to make changes and get better-
Gruden showed a pic of Wentz in college holding the ball low and out when he was moving in the pocket. Then Gruden showed video of Wentz holding the ball up at his chest with both hands as he was moving in the pocket in mondays game.
Wentz, who made the jump from college to pro, who saw more change in the past year than he ever will over one offseason in his career was still able to fix a fundamental flaw.
On the other side of the field, you have jay. Who still holds the ball like a loaf of bread.
A decade in the NFL, and he still cannot or will not commit to learning the small fundamental basics to minimize risk.
If the guy is unwilling to put in the effort on an easy to fix physical issue, It casts doubt on his ability to buckle down and get the mental parts of the game right.. reading coverage, going through progressions, understanding what the defense shows him.
Jay wasn't ruined by anyone. He has just never made the jump to understand the game at a pro level. He plays like a college QB still.
