<--Doesn't care a whole lot about what it's called. If I like it, that's all that matters.

The genre-nazism really only applies when someone tries to pass on a genre very different from the roots of influence. Like if someone published a CD with opera and symphony under techno, to capitalize on the following of techno during a decline of opera. Something like that. This "country" is pop music, but it still stems from the same influence. As much as I am not a fan, I don't see it as a category error, nor do I really care. The world still has such an enormous amount of music that is worth listening to that I do like, that stuff like witnessing an evolution of a genre means little to me. Heck, some even say that mainstream country 30 years ago, is not real country. In the eye of the beholder. Modern popular culture music is bought and paid for, it's 99% hand selected by the advisors to an elite few to manufacture stars that are willing to kiss the ring.

Duh. It's like what Waylon used to say bout Nashville, full of shit. Before HHM calls me out on what other weird shit he says about me knowing people(they all exist in my head), my buddy Joe is a session guitar player in Nashville. Wrote a song or two for Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line and Rodney Atkins along with a few other big names. He hates country, but it pays, so he writes lol. He said it's such commercialized bullshit it's hilarious people get so upset when he does a music lecture at a college and tells people the truths of Nashville; as if it's some big secret everything is cookie cutter commercialized bullshit.

Las ttime he was here he told me the guy who has been writing all the hits for major artists lately is his 24 year old buddy from New Jersey who went down on a wim to Nashville, never listened to country before and just start cranking out tunes for money lmao. It doesn't come from the "heart", this stuff comes for the paycheck.

Country has a broader appeal now. Not saying it is better, however a lot of it has more of a pop feel to it. My girl was listening to a song (she always has country on) and I said, "Did you hear what he just said?". It was a song about shining lights into someone's bedroom and stalking them. Something a bout "redneck crazy". I just lolled. Also, another song came on and I swear, I'm not playing the guy was RAPPING, yes RAPPING, over a countryish beat. WTH?

Something similar has happened in hiphop. Production has become sooo much better. In the early to mid 90s there were a handful of good producers and believe it or not rappers actually had talent. Word play, metaphors, emphasis, story telling, etc, etc, etc. Now all you need is a catchy beat and a decent chorus. Music is a business. It may have always been but so few care about putting out quality music. This isn't something specific to country.

I like that country music by Avvici or whatever. That DJ guy. You know, that guy who does that "Oh Brother" song. Dat's some good ass hipster country music right there.
