I think it is very progressive and hope the other branches will just accept the inevitable and do the same.

I find it funny that it's the Navy being the one to do it first. Stereotypical *** sailors and all.

This is actually the 1st thing that came to mind for me as well and then a "who's turn in the barrell" comments shortly afterward..

I think if the homosexuality ban is lifted they will have a hard time preventing access as it would be gender discrimination. We have already had a constituitional ruling (Appellate or District Court in California) on *** marriage and gender discrimination. Its going to happen, better the military just accepts it and makes it a non-issue to begin with, IMO.

My question for you is how long before we have transgendered GIs? And will the DOD start covering gender re-assignment procedures for those GIs that feel they are really a man/woman trapped inside a woman/man

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
IMHO if someone wants to defend their country, shouldn't they be allowed to do so regardless of gender and who they want to prong (or be prong'ed by) after light's out?

Apparently this decision was made a bit prematurely. Facing political fall out the Navy pulls a 180

Maybe I am confused. I thought it was the Marines that wanted a "few good men" I thought the Navy was "see the world" or something like that. Someone said something about the sailors liking Marines. That's what I meant by all they want is a Few Good Men.

I always think of that movie a few good men when I think of that. And Tom Cruise and Demi Moore were navy lawyers, but the represented Marines. So that is still confusing.

The Navy owns the Marines. I saw the letter about my MIA and presumed dead great uncle. He was a Marine, but the letter came from The Dept of the Navy. You can ask Bubble for sure, but I almost sure I'm right.
