Raw Numbers from this last regular season for the Bulls(by the major players on the roster).

Points Per Attempt - Points/FGA

Chicago Bulls 1.22
Opponents 1.22

Noah 1.44
Miller 1.41
Salmons 1.36
Gordon 1.29
Tyrus 1.25
Nocioni 1.23
Hinrich 1.20
Deng 1.17
Gooden 1.17
Gray 1.17
Timmy 1.17
Hughes 1.17
Rose 1.13
Thabo 1.07

This is purely scoring, it doesn't take in account for assists or TOs, I try to do that below. Rose as a rookie not getting calls really hurts him, it adds basically a shot attempt that wouldn't have counted if a foul was called plus on attempts he makes and was fouled, he misses out on the free points. I expect Rose's number go up dramatically in year 2.

Next is a trying to incorporate AST(although this is somewhat iffy on them creating a shot or someone making a shot passed to them) and TOs... Ast = 2pts(even though some were 3s) a TO is counted as the team's average point per attempt - 1.22

Points Generated Per FG Attempt

Miller 1.91
Hinrich 1.89
Rose 1.77
Noah 1.74
Gordon 1.53
Thabo 1.53
Salmons 1.52
Gray 1.43
Hughes 1.41
Deng 1.34
Nocioni 1.30
Tyrus 1.25
Gooden 1.20
Timmy 1.30

These stats mean more to me, it shows Tyrus hurting this team with his TOs(trying to do too much) way more then his assists help and where Hinrich may be doing far more for this team on the offensive end then realize. Notice how Rose goes from nearly the bottom of points per attempt to nearly the top of points created per attempt. Rose getting some respect from the refs should really alter his PPA and also his Points Created per Attempt.

It seems like you're trying to create something similar to Dean Oliver's offensive rating.

It's basically a formula that figures out points produced / possessions used counting up field goal attempts, free throws, turnovers, assists etc..

If you go to basketball-reference.com and look at advanced stats you can see them sorted by offensive rating.

Don't see anything like what I threw up there. I wish it did even though it's not that tough once it's thrown into a spreadsheet, now I just need to throw everything into a database to really start number crunching.
