Please note I haven't independently verified anything in this video yet so I can't comment on its accuracy at this time. Interesting none the less and will probably spark you to want to read more about it like it did me.

(for a run down, its basically video detailing the astrological significance of virgin birth, December 25th, crucifiction etc. etc. in an effort to explain why so many religious figures across various religions share similar characteristics i.e. virgin birth, ressurection, dec. 25th birthday's etc.)

Please try to keep on topic my intention is not to spark a secular/theist debate(as weve all been down that road and it ends at the thread locked sign). Just thought this was an interesting video and wanted to share.

I find the history of religions quite fascinating because it's interesting to see what religions borrow from others.
Thats from the loose change video... lots of Wikipedia citings.
I had an incling that some of the items around certain figures may be off, hence my preamble to the thread. I mean it is a youtube video afterall and not a history channel documentary.

There are other sources to pull from rather than a wiki site.

I can provide you with some links.

There are lots of facts in the video but a lot of "questionable" sources as well... I remember researching it a lot when the "Loose Change" video first came out.

That whole video is on pretty shaky grounds and I think most if not all of it has been debunked. Take with huge barrel of salt.

Haven't looked at the video but... its from that Zeitgeist fellow, right?

"The "sources" used for Zeitgeist are outdated, unreliable, non-academic, non-scholarly, speculative, and/or conspiracy-laden tomes written by folks who are not trained in biblical scholarship, historical Jesus studies, Egyptology, or related fields, and/or rely on other non-scholarly, outdated, pseudo-historical books, and are therefore filled with errors"

I've read a bit about Christ and Christianity being influenced heavily by the Egyptian beliefs... but I've yet to find actual ancient Egyptian documents with the text that is often said to be there. Mind you, I didn't actually read all the Egyptian Book of the Dead and such but did searches through PDF documents (the lazy way).

I read Tom Harpur's book "The Pagan Christ" a few years ago which basically linked Christ to Horus the same way - his main source of information was from someone ( I forget who it was) who wrote about in the late 1800's I think. It was a good read, but I'd have to do my own research first before taking the information it presents seriously accurate in any way.

I thought it was an interesting video. It would explain a lot. I am not gonna say every religion is dumb (well, it is) and derivative of every other. Just like I don't think the DaVinci code is reality either.
