William Ray Guy (December 22, 1949 – November 3, 2022) was an American professional football punter who played for the Oakland / Los Angeles Raiders of the National Football League (NFL).[1] Guy was a first-team All-American selection in 1972 as a senior for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, and was the first pure punter ever to be drafted in the first round of the NFL draft, when the Raiders selected him with the 23rd overall pick in the 1973 NFL draft.[2] He won three Super Bowls with the Raiders. Guy was elected to both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. An eight-time All-Pro, Guy is widely considered to be the greatest punter of all-time.[3]

Hopefully Taylor can live longer than 73 as a pure punter...

Here's the thing, ya punt in the NFL and ya either wind up dead or selling cars. The facts are all there man.

So being a punter increases your risk of death?

He's got a Super Bowl ring.

Colleges really need to teach financial management.
Why would someone who was handed millions of dollars a year get a 9-5 job?
Although I imagine "selling houses" is a way to be an insider buying and flipping houses without paying realtor fees. Higher risk/reward but probably is making his money work.
But still, 22 seasons, I'm sure he has enough he could put it in a safe investment account and be making the million per year he's grown accustomed to without having to lift a finger, or a foot.

Hopefully Tory Taylor will be in the pass Reggie Roby as one of the top punters in NFL history and make HOF. I know Roby isn't in the HOF yet but maybe he should be. Ray Guy was the best hands down.
