First Iran said they are going to shut the Strait of Hormuz where a large chunk of the worlds oil passes through. Now they claim they will attack a US Carrier that was in the region if it returns. What is Iran going for here? They know if they do either of the things they threaten we would blow the shit out of them. So are they trying to boost oil prices, or make the west think twice about sanctions? Should we just ignore them like Ron Paul says? What does everyone think?

First off it is sabre rattling. All we have to do is park a CAG and a SSBN off their coast and we can cripple them don't even need to set foot on their soil.



But yeah ignore them. They are a sovereign nation and have a right to defend their waters. but if we are in international waters. ****'em. If they open fire on us, sink their navy. We are the biggest naval power the world has ever seen with the best ships so yeah. I'd ignore them, they attack one of our ships, just obliterate their navy. Don't even declare war, don't even set foot on Iranian soil, just destroy their navy. It ain't easy to replace a navy, takes a lot of time and a lot of money.

Empty threats and posturing. First they said they would close it, but wont, but just wanted to let us know they can. and since a US carrier left the region on its routine patrol, they wanted to make it seem like the Carrier was leaving out of fear of Irans military might. Its complete BS. Iran has no friends other than terrorists, if they really did something they would get bombed into oblivion and they know it.

Interestingly enough it sounds like he has been upsetting some of their religious leaders over the past year. The population is also starting to get tired of what is going on. They are trying to hide it, and it keeps leaking out at the risk of lives...which shows how serious that situation is starting to become.

I agree except that I don't think that tard actually said anything this time. I think it is all the Ayatolla(sp) telling the military to yap away. It was actually the head of the military and the head of the navy that chirped off to the press saying that they would lob some rounds our way. But you don't get to say shit to the press if the grand pooba hasn't authorized it. That include I'mANutJob. Khomeni's hand is always up his but pulling the levers.

Pete-If I'm not mistaken didn't Khameni start to attack Ahmidinijad lately? The President has almost 0 power in Iran. The Aytollah's control everything. Especially the military. These are still empty threats but the are coming from the religious leaders.
