I think he is. I was listening to the jones this today, and they didn't think cj was in the conversation. Honestly, back up pg is one of the weakest positions in the league. Felton might be the best back up pg in the league, but he's clearly not a back up pg in this league. After that who do you go with? Dragic? Jack? is tj ford still alive? Douglas? Brooks?

Um, maybe not literally THE best but definitely worth counting into the main group of back-ups.

He definitely has shown he can handle the load while Rose gets his breathers.

yeah. i agree he's not the best. especially with a clear cut ringer like felton, but he's not the scrub people are making him out to be. I'd take cj over dragic and brooks.

He's up there. As said before, he's not literally the BEST because there are players like Felton and Brooks who are starters playing backup because of their situations. I thought Lawson was a pretty darn good backup, but I guess since he's a starter now he's out of the question. Discounting people like Felton, I'd say CJ is right up in the top 5. Maybe top 3.

Same here. Dragic to me really isn't that good anyway & Brooks right now, meh.

If we let cj's scoring ability loose, i think he could score better than brooks could. Even if he didn't, his defense is miles beyond what brooks could offer. I like brooks as a scorer, but i don't like him as a pg. Cj,i think, is decent as a pg, and he's a pretty good scorer.

True, I mean....think about it. GS let him go off heavily & he had a span of 10 games where we averaged 25+. Hell, I think there was even a game or two where he hit 35-40pts. haha

C.J. is a under appreciated player in-general through out the league. Whether it is this season or last season.

CJ is good for this team. On a scrub team, he would be a chucker. On this team, we don't have a lot of offense, and for the longest time while players, mainly second string, were building their roles, CJ was damned if he took the shots or if he passed it to someone else who would screw up.

Now that we are seeing SOME synergy from guys like Brewer and consistency from Korver on both ends of the floor, CJs job has gotten a lot easier.

All along through this escapade of building chemistry, CJ has done something few backup PGs in his position do, he has retained composure. After guys like Brewer and Deng get better at playing the point-forward for a few minutes here and there, Watson is going to turn into a serious threat. I love how Thibs is allowing Deng to build that role, because he doesn't have to play that role, he just needs to improve his handles. It's like a cure for Deng's old habit of late-game disappearing tricks, genius move. Brewer still resorts to combo guard tendencies, but he'll soon get a better mix as a point-forward because he can slash around the baselines, as he loves to do. All of this gives CJ and Rose so many more options to work with, options they haven't had for a large chunk of the year.

I was going to post on this matter, but then I saw this and realized everything was covered.

I was kind of worried about CJ the first several times I saw him play in a Bulls jersey, but he has really fulfilled his role to near perfection. He has been great for the team, and that has been one of the better surprises this season. I wasn't really high on him when he was with the Warriors, but then again the Warriors had a terrible team.

George Hill is the hands-down best back-up PG.

I'll admit I was not a Watson fan from the get-go. However, he has grown into his role as backup PG, which let's be honest, he's really a 2 in a 1's body, so this was no small task. And I think this speaks to the preparation & confidence that Thibs has instilled in this team. While people have been clamoring all year for either Bogans or Watson's heads (and at times Boozer & Brewer), Thibs kept his faith in his players & let them play thru their mistakes. Now we have arguably the best second unit in the NBA.

Agreed though Terry is more of a 2.

He's completely a 2 these days, Kidd/Barea/Beaubois eat all of the PG minutes in Dallas.

On Watson, as good as his defense has been it's pretty hard to call him the best backup PG when his passing is no more than serviceable and he's got a TS% of 46%. Then again if you look at the backup points it's typically "defense, passing or shooting: pick one", so I still think he's pretty good. If he could shoot like he did on the Warriors I'd buy that he's the best backup.
