Is Deng worth an expiring yet?

He's made it through 19 games without issue averaging 17/8 ... surely he's got to be getting close to the point where some team will take him off our hands?

Assuming we keep on losing and are forced to give up on 2010/go into tank mode:

* Trading Deng ensures we'll suck all year (imagine the rebounding with Gibson/Salmons as our forwards!) and so have a real shot at a top 3 pick.
* It opens up time for Johnson ... even if we want him to be a PF, playing SF is better than playing bench.
* With Deng's contract gone, who knows, maybe a 2011 free agent is still possible ... a high pick + Rose + Noah + a new coach and fresh start could always turn it around.
* Most of all, lets unload him before he's injured again. :touch wood:

this team's 2010 prospects suck. the floor is awful with deng at 3, because there's no spacing. Start deng at 4, and play a lineup of hinrich rose and salmons. there's no depth, but eh...c'est la vie.

i meant it's kinda rediculous to trade deng for an expiring when he's our best player other than noah(sometimes), and rose (this season).
hinrich has crapped out on us. trade him for an expiring!!!!! his defense doesnt excuse his absolutely horrible shooting percentage. horrendous doesn't capture how truly awful he is this year. hinrich and taj gibson for an expiring. bring tyrus, miller, and james johnson off the bench. we might get great minutes out of starters. enough that our bench might be able to handle the blow thats dealt to them.

I could only hope he's worth an expiring. He has a terrible deal so I don't know anyone would want to commit to him for 4 more years after this one.

Further more, I can't see JR trading him. Deng doesn't make any trobule and has a cap stuffer deal with 30% deferred.

pink, the point of trading him is that he's a top two player on the team right now. If we're deciding to give up on the year then we want to clear space long term, and suck in the short term for a good pick.

Of course we'd want to dump Hinrich too, that goes without saying. He's been injured and not playing well though, so may require a little more time before anyone takes him.

Like I said, if you can get a good pick and turn the team around next year, then 2011 free agency is a realistic goal. And trading Deng makes a nice hole at SF ... I wonder who might be available there ... ;)

Deng is definitely worth expirings with the way he's played. All you need is someone to take his contract.
