First off, I know Jenkins did not have a stellar first year by any means. If anything he showed he lacks pass protection ability and is above average at run blocking. I see a lot of mock drafts and posts clamoring for a high end Tackle. Is everyone giving up on T Jenkins already?

I personally I am giving him a full year (healthy) before I make up my mind about him, and think we need to spend our resources on Center and/or Guard.

Agreed, but Poles and Cunningham are experts at OL evaluations plus Getsy will want a specific scheme for the OL, so if Jenkins doesn't fit the bill, then it is time to move on (as sucky as that would be). You need the right players and if he doesn't fit, then so be it.

But don't worry, he will be here another year to prove himself. Maybe guard? Who knows.

I'm not sure anyone is giving up on him...I'd just rather not pencil him in at LT for next season.

I totally look forward to him being a Bear and being on the roster next year (maybe RT/RG or backup swing T)...but he's going to have to do way more (including stay healthy) to make me feel comfortable at LT when other options are out there.

Anyone who's giving up on Jenkins is an idiot.

Barely any playing time and only one year, and showed some real nasty aggression which is what you want on the offensive line.

Now where to pencil him in at?

No idea.

But I'm okay with that.

I am content to let poles do what he needs to do and then see just where the chips fall.

I like him at RT. I’d like to see Noteboom in here next week as our new LT.

Borom as the swing…

I figured Jenkins for RT out of college his foot work is raw. That being said if a LT presents itself through the draft or free agency they should kick the tires its probably the most important position on the line

That would be nice but would be even better if we could plug Borom in as a starting G. Sure would save us money or a draft pick if we could fill a G spot from within.

I thought Borom and Jenkins would be great playing together on the right side.

I just don’t know how Pace watched him play in college and thought he saw a left tackle! He’s the only dude, as far as I know.

I’d like to see Jenkins on the right mauling mofos. I never wanted to see him on the left.

I havent given up on him but we simply cant rely on him to be our LT at this point. I think thats what most reasonable fans are saying.

No. Only a few idiots & media trying to stir up said idiots for clicks.

Those who matter don't care, and those who care don't matter.

Let's let the kid show what he's made of under some actual pro coaching and solid health "BACKing".

Totally reading between the lines here, but Poles talked about their offensive linemen getting into better shape. That they were going to start measuring their body fat and want improved mobility. I think that was meant for Teven Jenkins since he didn't look all that imposing. Larry Borom seemed to have his weight under control, though more muscle mass would be nice. But pure speculation.

I think those are good observations. Outside of his 1st game back where he looked kinda bad, Jenkins held his own. He obviously was missing core work due to the surgery and he should have no problem getting into better shape now. He noticeably improved his drop in a week. Both the rookie OL need to tighten up but that should be no problem. I don't understand all the hate for him at T here. Probably has to do with being a Pace trade up, LOL. No slam dunk but he's certainly not out of that equation. On the other hand, Borom, after a decent start to his play, looked overmatched at RT at times. With all that weight loss. I suspect he hadn't fully adjusted. These guy's offseason development will be fun to evaluate. I haven't given up on Borom at T but it wouldn't surprise me if he moves inside.

I thinks ideally you get a proven left tackle and let Jenkins and Borom compete for the RT spot. But finding Left Tackles is easier said than done.
Yes....always thought the concept of drafting him and then putting him on the left was another stupid Pace idea....with draft capital as precious as it is for this team, I don't see how they afford to just give up on a guy where the sample size is very small and it's playing at a position that isn't his best slotting.
