Unless he's assuming the role of Tank Commander, some of the plays he's calling are really concerning.

I kind of feel like every time we get a lead in a game, we just try to sit on it. Eberflus = Lovie 2.0?

theres a lot of questionable plays this season, from the 4th and goal shotgun qb sneak early in the year, to wildcat plays from this game(why take the ball out of fields' hands especially near the goal line), etc etc....but i dont think he's a bad OC, id like him to stay with the team next year. but im prob in the minority on this board in thinking that i guess.

I think he's Tank Commander, so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until next year. But if I still see this shit with some actual talent on the roster, **** him.

That’s a big criticism I’ve had of Rogers and Greenbay, where it’s like they view putting people away as extra work and focus on burning clock with any size lead.

Would be a concerning philosophy to bring here and fail anywhere without prime Rogers or better.

There won't be any fears of him leaving until the 2024 season at the earliest...

Is the board still concerned that Luke Getsy might get a head coaching job or do you want him to get one now? ?
That was a great post. I would like Getsy to take the mike and self assess his play calling. His quarterback stood up and blamed himself for several of the Bear's losses. What about the coaches doing the same thing? I think that he and probably Eberflus needs to follow the lead of their Quarterback.

Nope. Need another year of seasoning to be ready. He is still only 34 years old?

Heck if he can actually develop Fields and create a situation where our OLine is solid, then who cares if he leaves. Once you have a good QB and OLine working together, they dont need a new play caller that will change things. Its worked for all good teams, so even if he were to leave at that time, they would probably just promote the QB Coach next in line.

I dont understand why some folks are even thinking that this would be a loss if Getsy left at any point.

Yes.

We fans look at the seeming self-sabotage and atrocious playcalling when things are going great and wonder why someone will want to talk to him, but let's remove negativity from the equation.

NFL owners will see this guy as a cultivator of turning Justin Fields around on top of having a high-scoring offense that can put up points, along with him getting a lot out of players who otherwise wouldn't be starting on good teams. An owner wanting to pair a young, probably drafted QB with an offensive guy who can get use out of them.

Let's also consider other 'offensive coaches' who we'd expect to get interviews/HC positions. Kellen Moore. The OC from Philly. Mike McDaniel's offensive coordinator in Miami. Maybe Frank Reich. Maybe Sean Payton if he wants to take another year off. Let's add Byron Leftwich for the Rooney rule, maybe not so much because Tampa's offense is lighting things up. With Indy, probably Arizona, possibly Denver, Texans, Commanders, Saints, possibly NE and/or Seattle (depending if two 71-year-olds on regressing teams want to keep coaching) needing coaches, you'd be naive to think Getsy wouldn't get a call.

We lost Adam Gase in 2015 (yes I'm aware he sucked as a coach 2x) after ONE year when he turned Jay Cutler around and made him look productive in a bad year where the bears finished in last place. Let's not pretend it can't happen again.

If the job description requires Fields to come with him and for him to call plays stolen from Baltimore 100% of the time then he's as good as gone.

Getsy is quality and I am surprised more people don't see it. I mean look at the shitshow we had for 4 years here with Nagy, we continued to regress while he was here and in half a season Getsy has us moving forward.

Is he perfect, no. But he is above average in my opinion.

My conspiracy theory is that It's all part of the tank. We keep getting leads and then going super conservative/bad.
