I have some difficulty evaluating managers, on the one hand the talent is ultimately that factor that decides wins and losses, on the other is the Terry Bevington era.

I think the manager matters in that a good manager won't lose you games.

We know Robin turned down an extension. I applaud the move if he is doing so to bet on himself. I respect it if he did so to have more time to decide if he wants to be a manager.

My question, what's te confidence level in Robin thus far?

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Minnesota United FC
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
I think Robin would be someone I'd want managing my team for the next 5 years.

Robin is a good guy, he is level headed, and though I am not in the locker room I do believe he gets a positive reaction from the players. However, he has made some questionable decisions as manager as I stated in my article that you may or may not have read which I feel were common sense moves to not make. i feel like these mistakes were baseball common sense which worries me because if Ventura has to learn baseball common sense then why was he hired in the first place?
However, I feel like with time he will get used to the situations, the players, and his staff, and additionally the White Sox are not the type of franchise to change managers like dirty socks (see Ozzie Guillen) so I believe Robin is the long term solution whether we like it or not.

Though I didn't agree with some of his lineup/bullpen decisions, he's a breath of fresh air.

Hope he's around for awhile.
