Is Rose really a bad 3pt shooter?

Over the last weeks I recognized that Derrick Rose is shooting threes pretty well when he dribbles over halfcourt and the Bulls call a time out. Yesterday for example he was 2 of 2.

And it even looks like he doesn´t concentrate much on that shots, it´s more like a throw away.

Anyway he made more threes than he missed.

So will we see a Rose with the ability to shoot threes soon?

i think that he is. if you remember that monster phoenix game, derrick shot a three with the quarter expiring. even though it went in, it looked so uncomfortable and drastically different than his regular shot. it almost looked like a miracle halfcourt shot in the way that he shot it, it just looked so ugly and out of sync. maybe i'm just harping too much on one instance, but that one really stood out to me.

That 3 was with a guy in his face and sorta falling away. And with time expiring to boot. Of course it was uncomfortable...

it was a crazy shot, but he had like 2 guys on him, and absolutely no time to get a quality shot off.

he made a very very difficult shot. i imagine there was an element of luck to it as well...but yeah, we cant use that evidence.

i think he might be able to become a luol deng like 3pt shooter. he's not a shooter, but if you leave him wide open, he probably will make it.

When the Bulls call a timeout there's no defensive pressure. In that situation most NBA players can shoot 50%+ from three. Even the guys who never take them in games.

Well it was another buzzer beater, but I'm not complaining.

yeah. he looked awkward cause it was a rushed shot . in terms of general shooting ability he has become a better shooter, but he's not a 3pt shooter. i still like the idea of passing to him when there's one of the clock.

No, he's a really bad 3pt. shooter, 6-25 on the year.
24% isn't progress. Dont get me wrong, DRose is my favorite player in the NBA but I never see him becoming any better than say Kirk Hinrich(my least favorite Bull)

if rose hit the 3 as good as kirk, i'd live iwth that. really you just want it him shooting well enough to be gaurded out there. it would get the defense to be more honest.

well, hes really improved his midrange shot, thats for sure. i can see him getting in the 33-35% range eventually, maybe 1 out of 3 attempts per game

Rose is 2 of 2 in the first quarter tonight.

Where does he have that range from?

IMO, people are getting too worked up with the PCT thing. up until last game, most of his shots (I would say about 70% of them) were like buzzer beating with time running out and especially before last month, were like half court heaves.

IMO, Rose can be a good enough 3pt shooter but he just had no confidence this year so he wasn't trying to force it. He is the guy that feels like he needs to work on it to have a better shot and if he is not better at it, he doesn't feel like forcing it.

I think he finally felt confident after working on it and maybe someone told him that if he is open, then take it. I think he tried it last game and bam, he was 4-4 and 4-6 overall - even those misses were right on the line. He had a nice arc on it, wasn't off balanced and knocked it down even though defender tried to block it.

I just hope to see him do that the rest of the way now. It's all about "CONFIDENCE".
