NFL defenses have the most gifted athletes on the planet. Coached by brilliant minds. Given a budget of millions to stop Trubisky. I assure you, his inability to run an efficient offense for four quarters is not because he set a low bar for himself. He's an amazing QB with primarily one major flaw.
He can't read defenses and he's inaccurate...those are two flaws NFL QB's can not have.

I know a good defense might light him up though.
A team with a good pass rush could really, really be a problem but he reads so quickly he can adjust and really kill a defensive pass rush with dump offs the RB and with Cohen and Monty those could be huge plays.

The END? Probably not.

Mitch will likely (should) be the #2 until something changes that. Which makes sense.

I could even see them signing him on again for a 1-2 year CHEAP deal as a #2 QB. Let's be honest...do we see any other team giving Mitch a greater shot at being their #1!??? No.

^ This actually works out great for Bears' cap situation if you think about it. Foles is already signed through 2021 no matter what, unless he kicks so much ass and gets a bigger deal somewhere else? (he does have the right to opt out if so).

I just don't see that happening TBH. Foles has danced with enough teams to know a good situation in hand in CHI for another year.

+ PLUS: Bears can draft a QB3 candidate to stash or compete with Mitch next season. Not a terrible situation IMHO.

I think so. He's a good kid, he just doesn't have the consistency to start in the league which is unfortunate. I don't think this is the end of his football journey though, he should definitely be a commodity as a backup. There's no shame in that, but you just can't hold back the other guys on account of 1 person.

I think he gets his walking papers, and they have to attack the draft for a franchise QB. Even if BEWD does continue to play great ball at QB.

He's done as a starter for the Bears. He will stick around the league as a back up and/or be in a QB competition on shit teams for the rest of his career most likely.

It's unfortunate and it sucks for Mitch. He is a good guy, good teammate, works hard, etc. He has taken a ton of heat because Ryan Pace thought he was worthy of a #2 overall pick.

Nagy should seriously consider using him like the Saints use Taysom Hill though.

Why the need for declarations or predictions? Guys like Alex Smith, Testeverde etc have much worse starts to their career. I hope Nick continues to start and play well but it's better than a 50/50 chance we will need Mitch again this year. I hope he learns from his time on the bench and plays with better comprehension if we see him again. He handled the benching quite well. Anyone who says otherwise if just digging in the dirt. If I had to predict his future, it's a backup but that's very far from written in stone. He's finally in the position that he should have been as a rookie.

Unfortunately, you'll learn a lot about Bears fans if you look at the thread titles since yesterday. Soooo much more dump on Mitch than congrats to Foles. I wonder how long Foles starts before this board turns on him, LOL. We could of had...

well yah, all the mitch backers (there are plenty of them here) like that Lord of the rings guy will be quick to jump on Foles but that's expected.

Am sure it was the same back in the day, pro cutler vs anti cutler.

Mitch is done. He only plays if there is an injury.

I don't think you can go back to Trubisky unless Foles lays an egg a few games in a row, or gets hurt. And Foles has never played 16 games before. So please stay healthy, Nick.

Trubisky has had a ton of chances. Sometimes he's delivered, sometimes he hasn't. Sometimes isn't good enough to be a real contender in the NFL. And that's the reality of it. Unless Foles absolutely balls out and we are 100% sure that he's the guy going forward for the next few years, we should be drafting the heir apparent in the next draft. Based on Foles' injury history, we should probably be doing that anyway.

Atlanta has a terrible defense and mitch "led" the offense to 10 points at half. Once the Bears start playing good teams they were going to be fucked playing Mitch and they finally figured it out. You cannot have your #2 overall qb consistently digging you holes and expecting your overrated defense or a team to completely fall apart (Lions, Falcons) to bail you out and get you a victory.

It's time to move on and another rebuild is coming soon.

Nick Foles looked better in that half than anything we have seen from Mitch. Even on deep misses to Darnell Mooney that was a great pass.

Mitch is done. They tried, he showed a little improvement, but yesterday was right back to the same old Mitch we cannot win with.

Congrats to Nagy, that was a bold move.

And he hasn't played a good defense yet this year.

The schedule and no crowd set Mitch up perfectly to wow the world. He didn't wow anybody and we can finally move on from this huge mistake.

Probably. I mean we ruined another QB. It’s what we do.

He ruined himself. Should never have been #2 overall pick. Because he couldn't beat out Marquise Williams, he only played one year of college and few organizations are dumb enough to draft him that high. The Bears are one of those organizations.

One more year of college and he would have been exposed.

A shit GM made a shit QB pick. Nothing was ruined, it was a mistake from the start.

Flush both and be done with the circus.
