This kid Mize, given the Cubs penchant for swinging at pitches in the dirt.....should be a major obsticle with that splitter of his. If he doesn't tire and hit 100 pitches early, we're looking at double digit strike outs.

Yeah, his problems are obvious. He's got one really good pitch but it becomes useless when you can't get it near the strike zone. Even the generous Cub hitters can't help you.

Nice to see an offense come back for their pitcher. Give up a couple, get them back. I was listening on the radio when Pat Hughes basically said that Javy forgot how many outs there were on a double play ball when he did not even try to relay to first that allowed a run to score. Anyone see that and have an opinion on the play?

The quality of the pitcher that they are facing factors also. Cease is having a break out and Keuchel is still a solid vet.

That said Javy is finally waking up.

If it was the first run scored, they had zero chance of turning the DP so Javy ate it. They had a shift on and it was awkward how it played out. Javy is one of the few guys I wouldn't expect to have a mental gaffe like you mentioned

Pat was pretty animate about it, Ron basically said he was playing short center and had to sprint like 40 feet just to get to second base to catch the force throw. Just not like Pat to rag on a guy like his old partner used to so I thought there was something to it. I would think Javy would be the last on the field to forget outs.

Best plays I saw yesterday was Rizzo immediately choking up just go get a base hit to drive in a run, even though it was right into the shift with the shortstop pretty close, and Javy going Oppo.

Maybe what they needed was to just get out of the house. You gotta think these guys are worried about bringing Covid flu into their houses with their little ones.

Mills maybe the short stick in the rotation but at least he did t look like a dipstick out there.

Any update on Chatwood coming off the DL today?

On Monday, Ross announced that Chatwood would rejoin the rotation for an outing against the Tigers on Tuesday, following his activation from the 10-day injured list (mid-back strain). Quintana (left thumb) will be activated on Tuesday as well, but he will move into the bullpen for the time being.

3 hits and 5 walks for Chatwood.....seems like a miracle to only allow 2 runs. Nice pitching by Underwood

It's story time boys and girls....

Once upon a time there was a Cub pitcher named Chatwood who came to the Cubs in 2018 and was complete shit but
Chatwood worked very hard to become a good pitcher again and succeeded but lightning strikes and our hero gets
hurt.....he then goes on the DL....hops into a DeLorean and goes back to 2018.....remembers how shitty he was that year....gets back into the Delorean and comes back to 2020 only now he can't remember how he turned it around. Hence....he's back to being the same 2018 piece of shit.

And the Cubs lived unhappily ever after.
