IST: Cubs vs. Reds

Lester going in game 1. Baez will not be back for the game. He is going to Iowa to play in a game for part of his rehabilitation. If people don't know, he was struck in the head while batting a couple of days ago and the Cubs are being cautious. With the off day Tuesday, we could see him Weds. Im guessing the Cubs are buying some time as well to make some decisions.

Here's the thing about the Reds; they do have some decent young pitching in guys like Finnegan, who's going tonight, along with Iglesias and Simon. Obviously they still have some offense as well in Joey Votto, Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips. What they don't have is any depth anywhere. When everything goes right this is the kind of team that can hang around a while but they aren't likely to even consider being deadline buyers because they need too many pieces to contend and their best prospects are a year or two away. By the end of the year I expect them to have traded off Philips and Bruce at least and the young pitching will be gassed. Then they'll be awful, for right now though I wouldn't underestimate them.

Yeah, that's kind of how I was seeing it. I can't wait to see the Cubs offense at Wrigley, however, especially with the wind blowing out. Tonight looks like the weather will not be too much of a factor.
