What a great day and great way to celebrate in this heat.

What is your favorite ice cream treat or frozen confection?

I have too many too narrow it down to just one. Some peach sorbet would taste yummy tight now, but I can't buy any where I live so I will have to settle for fudge ripple or cookies and cream today.

For our sweet-toothed readers, we have some bad news to report: Baskin-Robbins announced that it's shelving five of its 31 signature flavors including the classic staple French Vanilla, which was with the company since it started in 1945, Caramel Praline Cheesecake (1970), Campfire S'mores (1975), Apple Pie a La Mode (1976) and Superfudge Truffle (2007). This has happened before, but never to such magnitude.

Stu's a lonely, sad robot.

Today, my mother in law made homemade angel food cake with fresh Sakuma Brother Strawberries and Vanilla ice cream. Yummy!

My favorite ice cream is Ben and Jerry's Heath Bar Crunch (Vanilla or Coffee) ice cream.

I don't tend to eat a lot of ice cream (I do enjoy it, just have to be in the mood) - but I'm pretty boring. Sometimes a single scoop of vanilla will sate my craving.

Otherwise, I'm a fan of whatever soft-serve they use at Jason's Deli (particularily the "swirl") and at the grocery store - Edy's Dreamery Coney Island Waffle Cone Ice Cream.

I'm not a big sweets eater either. Not saying I wont have any if offered, but I dont go out of my way to get an ice cream.

This is a VERY close second.

Either one can be used to make the absolute best desert you have ever had, Halo-halo.

Hmmm... Asians are not particularly known for their awesome desserts (I personally think Japanese mochi is disgusting). Add in that's it's filipino and I think you're messing with us! :D

Also, for being filipino I'm surprised I've never heard of it.

Filipino's tend to be different from the rest of asia in that they have AMAZING deserts (I like to blame that on the Spaniards and their 330+ year occupation). Ube ice cream is freaking amazing, nevermind leche flan, brazo de mercedes, halo halo, turon, ensaymada, cassava cake, etc. All of it is great stuff.

Hell, Dale on top chef did a Halo-halo that all of the judges RAVED about.

Most of the Flip parties I've been to, stuck to traditional American desserts... save for this mocha cake made with a butter frosting guaranteed to contribute to a massive coronary... and flan. There was always flan (which I don't care for).

Hun, when did this happen. You don't look Filipino. You look like a real life Ralph Wiggum and I don't mean that in a bad way.

Then you have never had my flan. I've converted everyone who said they didn't like flan with my flan. I think most people are turned off by the name, so I tend to tell them it's creme caramel before they eat it. It adjusts preconceptions.

Your flip parties must me more Americanized than the ones I've been to, Though I noticed that for some reason most flips in N/A tend to think their deserts are too complicated, so they don't even attempt them.
