I can't believe this hasn't come up yet but did you vote? And how long will it take for all the election protests, and how much is this fucking runoff going to cost taxpayers just to reconfirm that Emanuel is Mayor?

The closest this election has gotten to nudity is Carol Mosely Braun talking about tampons, envision that centerfold and there won't be any straight non-Asian guys left in Vancouver.

I went ahead and voted, AND I got my garbage can situation taken care of... (I hadn't had a garbage can in back of my house for 3 months, and I called 311 as well as going to the alderman's office, yet no response....) I couldn't be happier...

Yup. Vote in every election---Primary and General. And do so gladly.

Absolutely BIZARRO experience in the booth with my ballot not seeing Daley's name on the damn thing nor being able to cast a vote for him. He's been Mayor for half my life so today was weird. Shit, it was even bizzare not seeing my current Alderman on the ballot due to her impending retirement as that broad has been in charge of the 48th for as long as I've lived up here which has been 16 years. Oh, the times they are a CHANGIN' alright, lol.

Vote early and vote often.

hahah beat me to it.

So Not overly excited about Rahm, but I think he's the lesser of the evils and I have high expectations of him changing my mind no matter what. Most exciting part of yesterday for me was that there were a very small percentage of runoffs, and no MAYOR RUNOFF!

If you ******* in Chicago actually elected this man, and keep voting in these corrupt assholes you deserve everything you get. No bitching.

*I say IF, because I don't believe there is a chance in hell he actually got 55% of the vote.

People need to realize in politics its lose lose all the time. Unless Jesus runs. But even Jesus wouldn't get more then 50% of the vote these days.

Well... he says he wants to transform (not reform) the government to work better for the people. Basically it looks like he wants to do it all with efficiencies somehow. But I haven't heard him directly say cutting jobs and freezing salaries or lowering them.

He'll pander to the unions, community organizations and continue pay to play politics in Chicago. He won't stray far from the democrat playbook; handout entitlements and increase taxes to pay for it. Bank on it.

Normally I would agree, except that he was Clinton's Chief of staff for the time that the budget was wrangled in a considerable bit. I won't claim to know exactly how that was done, or what his involvement was, but then again, he was Obama's Chief of staff for when the exact opposite happened.

While he's doing that buisness and industry will relocate to states that are encouraging economic growth by limiting regulation and reducing corporate taxes. Those states typically are also "right to work states" where unions have considerable less political clout (Florida, Texas for example).

I think you will see a mass exodus similar to what's happened in California, New York, and Michigan.
