So did Eddie Goldman. For reference Aaron Donald had 29.5.

A highly disruptive player no doubt but in any other draft is he a top 5 selection?

Deron Payne had 5 career sacks in college.

Chris Jones had 8.5. They are both top 5 DTs. Great DTs tend to eat up blocks in college not get a ton of sacks.

Not really a big deal, imo. DT's should be run stuffers and ideally guys who can disrupt the middle of the pocket forcing QBs to scramble into edge rushers.

Given how terrible our interior OL has been, we've seen this plenty this year. When defenses collapse the pocket from the middle, Fields struggles (as most QBs do).

Payne never had more than 5 sacks till this season. Not sure I trust DTs that put up career years in a contract year. I expect someone will really disappointed with him over the next few years. I don't see him as a dominant player worth the contract he will sign.

Payne was already a great player without the sacks. He probably was already a player that commanded 18 million/yr. This year has only boosted his value a few million. I think you underestimate what he was as a player already

Its more of a positional value question. Is that space eating DT that doesn't really rush the passer worth a top 5 pick? If you feel Carter can be a Chris Jones and get 8-10 sacks a year that is a different type of player and I think you absolutely take him top 5. But if he is just a space eater can you draft him that early?

Georgia is stacked defensively so its difficult. The idea that he gets double teamed all the time is FALSE. He has plenty of 1 one 1 matchups.
I’ve been more on the Anderson band wagon and even he has warts. I think Anderson or trade down is most impactful for franchise especially if they can land Payne. This is good to know about Carter but would like more in depth look stats only tell part of the story

He does indeed. The few games that I watched he was successfully single blocked quite often

Payne was drafted at 13 and Jones was a 2nd rounder.

The question is not if he will be good but if he warrants that early of a selection

Yes and I am saying judging based on college sacks isnt the way to go.

They are plenty of scouts and talent evaluators that are paid to assess talent. If they are all concluding he is worth that high of pick then he is worth that high of a pick. Doesnt mean it will work out but do you think they are evaluating him without knowing his sack totals?

Have you actually ever watched him? Or are you just looking at stats?

I just know, from what I've seen, he looks pretty dominant.

Is he the next Aaron Donald? I don't know, but that's a high bar. He still looks like a pretty solid prospect to me, but the proof will be in the pudding.

How many posters watch more than 3-5 minute highlight reels?

That's probably worse than just looking at stats because you're just getting fed the absolute best plays.

We have at least one GA fan who might have watched more than 1 FULL game. I believe you'd have to watch at least 2 or 3 FULL games paying close attention to the d-line every series....who actually did that on CCS?

Actually I agree with this that’s why I’m asking about more than just looking at stats which is lazy. Are the other players improved cause he’s out there should also factor in. But need to watch games to see that. I really only watch u of m consistently so those that are ga fans and not just fan boys give an honest assessment
