I know this is somewhat old news... but I didn't see anyone talk about it much.

Jared Cook's five-year contract with the Rams has a maximum value of $38.5M and includes $19M guaranteed.

Is he worth it? Not based off current performance, but I'm guessing Jeff Fisher knows something we don't.

"The Titans couldn't find a way to use Cook, but the Rams (and others) were willing break the bank on him. His average annual salary currently ranks sixth among tight ends in the league, behind only Rob Gronkowski, Antonio Gates, Vernon Davis, Jason Witten and Aaron Hernandez. It's a huge chunk of cash for a player that has single-season career-highs of 49 receptions and four touchdowns, but speaks to his unique upside. The Rams are going to make sure Cook's 6'5/248 frame and 4.4 wheels are heavily involved in their offense."

Based on that contract that he signed... I think we got a huge discount with Bennett...

Agreed. i can almost understand breaking the bank on a proven player, but doing it on a guy's 'potential' is a little too risky for my tastes. It's like paying for a 1st round pick all over again (well, two years ago before the new CBA deal).

No, he isn't worth that much, but hey, it's the freakin' Rams. I'm sure he'll enjoy living near the black hole that nearly destroyed Gonzalez's life in KC. SUPERBOWL, BABY!

The dude cant block either, just an oversized slot reciever.

I think the verdict is still out on Cook. He didnt get utilized with the Titans just like Bennett didnt get utilized with the Coyboys.

However, no way i pay Cook based on what he could do. We definitely made the right choice with Bennett.

Well he's not exactly in the right place to prove people wrong. Bradford is a mediocre talent that needs an elite cast to be truly effective, not a guy that truly makes others better.

I think Cook is the better receiver. And Bennett the better overall TE. But Cook ain't worth what he got paid imo. And if he is, oh well. We still didn't want to pay him that much. Damn.
