Jaworski: Collins will be fine vs. Panthers - Chicago Bears Blog - ESPN Chicago

Former Philadelphia Eagles great quarterback Ron Jaworski joined "Mike & Mike" and discussed Todd Collins making his first start since 2007.

Jaworski believes Collins "will be fine" in Mike Martz's system, and in fact he likes him more than Jimmy Clausen on Sunday.

He also discusses Kyle Orton vs. Jay Cutler.

Collins just needs to be good enough. I know his ass isn't going to attempt a pass of 30 or more yards. But those short routes need to be open for him.

Also, getting that run game going is HUGE this week.

:yep:
If the Bears can't establish a running game, they won't have much of a chance to win the game IMO

Yeah, we need to get this run game going. No excuse for being towards the bottom in the league in it.

You had to expect w/ the terrible O-Line and a pass happy offense it wouldn't be substantially great, but their production is pathetic

I believe the main reason we suck so much running the ball is that we barely even run.....

True. Mike Martz seldom runs the ball if it isn't established early. But that also has to be attributed to the Bears horrendous O-Line

Sorry but the reason we suck so bad in the running game is the O line isn't making holes for the running backs.

I'd be very surprised if Hanie isn't the backup and Collins isn't released.

They probably won't release him. He surely is going to be 3rd string now and inactive on gamedays. He is getting paid either way, so there's not much incentive to cut him right now.
