My favorite teams
It appears that despite the rain-out the other day, which daddies3angels suggested might have ended the possibility of Jay Jackson getting the call in a couple days, Jay Jackson still appears poised to pitch Monday.
Sun TimesQuade said he plans to take another day to settle on a pitcher for the next time a fifth starter is needed. That most likely will be Monday in Los Angeles.
The likeliest options appear to be James Russell (who has made the last three starts in that slot) and Class AAA right-hander
Jay Jackson.
RotoWorldJames Russell and Jay Jackson are the two most likely candidates to start for the Cubs the next time the No. 5 spot comes up, which will likely be Monday.
Russell has made the last three starts in the spot but has struggled mightily, giving up four runs in each outing while failing to pitch past the fourth inning. Jackson has posted a 2.31 ERA in his two starts for Triple-A Iowa this year but has struck out only five over 11 2/3 innings. He would certainly represent a more intriguing option than Russell, who the Cubs would like to return to the bullpen. Apr. 29 - 9:34 am et
