It appears that despite the rain-out the other day, which daddies3angels suggested might have ended the possibility of Jay Jackson getting the call in a couple days, Jay Jackson still appears poised to pitch Monday.
Quade said he plans to take another day to settle on a pitcher for the next time a fifth starter is needed. That most likely will be Monday in Los Angeles.

The likeliest options appear to be James Russell (who has made the last three starts in that slot) and Class AAA right-hander
Jay Jackson.

James Russell and Jay Jackson are the two most likely candidates to start for the Cubs the next time the No. 5 spot comes up, which will likely be Monday.
Russell has made the last three starts in the spot but has struggled mightily, giving up four runs in each outing while failing to pitch past the fourth inning. Jackson has posted a 2.31 ERA in his two starts for Triple-A Iowa this year but has struck out only five over 11 2/3 innings. He would certainly represent a more intriguing option than Russell, who the Cubs would like to return to the bullpen. Apr. 29 - 9:34 am et

IDK, I'll check...
No. But they could move Schlitter to the 60-day DL or something along those lines IMO.

Haven't seen much on Jackson. Is he a legit rotation guy for the Cubs?

Not too bad. I'd say give him a shot. He can't be any worse than some of the performances the Cubs starters have turned in this season.

If Quade opts to go with Russell, then it will be evident that Quade has a hard on for him. The Jimmy Russell Experience needs to end.

Russell must teabag Quade in the clubhouse or something. I haven't seen many Cubs games this year, but when I've seen Russell, he has stunk up the diamond.

I think he meant MON...unless they bring Demp back on MON..only threw 40 pitches

No news or info on Dempster being injured? I saw his first inning against the Dbacks and it seemed that something just wasn't right with him and his delivery.
