Does he have a legit shot to make the team in your opinion?

Or is it best for him to get top line minutes?

That pass yesterday in the scrimmage was a thing of beauty. <3

Morin will has to earn a top 6 spot to make this team, he would have to beat out Stalburg. I don't see that happening and he only has one year of junior experience I think he will be sent back to Kitchener for sure. He cannot play a checking line role so forget about him playing on the 3rd line and putting him on the 4th would just impede his development and would be a waste.

If he doesn't ear a top 6 role, I think we have to develope him in the Juniors/ Minors and let the guys who have developed their games to be bottom 6 role players be those players. Let Morin go and consistantly get top minutes, and be productive doing it

It has nothing to do with his development as to why he would not play on the 3rd line. He is a defensive liability and is scoring winger and does not fit the role. Igor Makarov is a rookie who looks like he has secured a 3rd line checking role because he is very good in his own end.

Also Morin cannot play in the minors (AHL) this year. He still has Junior eligibility and once he is sent back to Kitchener he cannot be called up to the NHL.

Then he has to DEVELOPE into that role, which is why i stated to send him to Juniors/ Minors to develope, unless he earned a top 6 role

Why would you want to waste the offensive talent that Jeremy Morin posses and develop (the word does not have an E in it by the way) him into a checking line forward? Players that posses Morin's hands, skating, and scoring ability are hard to find. It is much easier to find and develop checking line players.

Also as I stated earlier Morin is not eligible to play in the minors this season.

How is that wasting talent? If he has it he isn't going to lose it, it just developes him into a better player. Jack Skille is 10 times better than he was 2 years ago around this time. Me and Storm have talked about it in other threads he has improved his D and made him a better player. Plus with all the depth the Blackhawks have it will probably be better for him to be able to do different roles. Most NHL players now are two way type of players.

and for the minors thing, he technically could play for the Icehogs with the signing of a ATO.

There is a difference in trying to get a player to sharpen their defensive skills as a two way player and developing a player so they can play on your team as soon as possible on the 3rd line. From your earlier posts you made it sound like you wanted the Hawks to have Morin focus on back checking and penalty killing so he could play in the NHL faster on our 3rd line.

I know what I am talking about I have played hockey since the age of 7 and follow the CHL, RSL (KHL), and NHL religiously.

I had not heard that news. I wonder why there was an exception made for Morin? Thanks for the update though Joehawks.

I looked into the issue more and I guess the ruling was made last week. "The NHL announced Wednesday that American players drafted by NHL teams before they play for their Canadian Hockey League teams can be sent to the American Hockey League, rather than back to major junior, as teenagers if they don’t make the big-league club."

This is good news for the Blackhawks and Morin because not only will he be available to be called up in the case of injury but his development should speed up playing in the AHL rather than playing major junior hockey.

I would love to see where i said that, especially since my very first post in this thread was that if he isn`t in the top 6 theres no chance he does make it. Which is when i went on to say send him to the juniors/minors to keep him getting top line mimutes and continue to develope.

for your second part, i dont give a shit. I`m sure the core of us posters grew up watching hockey, and we love it, but you dont see me coming on here saying i know what i am talking about because of this or that. we all have different opinions and thats why there are message boards so we can share them

Wow, that got a little unpleasant, and considering you are both basically saying the same thing you two should probably agree to agree?

My guess is that Morin needs time to develop whatever type of game he has to the NHL level. I'm not sure if he is better served in the juniors or the AHL but I have to believe that the AHL (which is an option now where it wouldn't have been prior to this year) is the right place due to better talent. That can also backfire if the kid is overwhelmed and stagnates. I don't see that going down but it is a possibility with any young player.

Morin doesn't project as a 3/4th line player but it behooves him to increase his defensive abilities to increase his value to a team that places a high value on defensive responsibility but it doesn't make sense to have him focus on working in an exclusively checking role. It is possible to do both at the same time, they arn't mutually exclusive. With the Icehogs, he would be in a position to get time on various lines doing different things. A year of playing in the AHL tends not to be detrimental to high end talent (barring catastrophic injury) because they get a chance to fine tune their game while playing against other future NHL talent.

I agree, and i basically agreed with him, i'm just loss to how he brought in the 3rd line checking role
