Jerry Reinsdorf was on ESPN1000 today with Chuck Swirsky. You can listen to podcast at EspnChicago. I am about to listen to it right now so I will summarize it for everybody. I don't think he goes that in depth into Bulls though, but mostly White Sox

Ben wanted to sign the deal at the last minute but the deadline was passed and the Bulls decided in was in there best interest to sign Ben on a 1 year deal.....

IMO from listening to it I feel Ben will get a offer from us but slightly less and we'll see if a team tops us...

Odd that he'd be on with Swirsky talking about the Sox. I guess it's odd that Swirsky is just on the air right now at all. Is Swirsky doing a general show or is he still doing his 1 hour bulls show still?

Swirsky was filling in for Waddle and Silvy today. I think they just got the day off just because of holiday and Swirsky filled in. On his Bull show to which is Saturday night thing he usually covers most sports so its not that unusual for him to cover baseball. Reinsdorf said Gordon declined the deal, then they told him lets do 1 year deal and the agent said they would accept the deal, but Reinsdorf wouldn't do it

Interesting, I'll have to download that and listen to it. I wonder if that was a JR decision or a Paxson/Forman decision.

sounded all JR. It also sounded like he had no regret and got the feeling he'll offer some contract and if Gordon get better contract and takes some elses offer he won't do anything to convince him to stay

Reinsdork is a moron. Why the hell would you pass on getting a guy like Gordon on a bargain deal? Gordon would be making less than Hughes, Deng, and Kirk.

There was no reason for Ben to accept a deal before the deadline.

Also, sounds like we're trading our picks if we decide to re-sign Ben.

I smell a 6yr 48-50million offer coming. Its sad because he has really been our best player since he got here.

If that's all we're offering, I think Gordon will be playing wingman to Wade or Lebron next year. Any good shooting guards at the top of the 2010 draft?

Ya because Miami want to play the luxury tax

Pat Riley and Micky Arison would be gleeful to pay the luxury tax for ONE YEAR to sign a player of the caliber of Gordon. Then they give him a 10-11 million a year deal after that with their 2010 capspace. Consumate it the first minute of free agency, and then move on and try to get Amare/Bosh with the remainder of their capspace....still enough to sign a max player.
