I laughed at the time, but he proved correct in the regular season and we’re about to find out how true this statement is:

"I also think we're a better team than Miami right now, assuming we get a shooting guard. Of course, with LeBron we would've been a great team. Without him, we're still going to be a very good team. If you look at the Miami roster with these three guys but not much else, I think we'll be better next year."

Jerry Krause on the Miami Heat

"Garble garble, executives win burgers...errr championships. If we got LeBron, we wouldn't get the McDonald's endorsement, so what's the point? Burger King? Nope. Chomp chomp, but hey guys, we get a Boozer to bring the schnitzel and bratwurst, we got Derrick who has a Skittles machine. We're much better now. Now that Thibodeau guy doesn't have the musky fisherman smell, I think the Bulls made a mistake there. The Heat have that Spoelstra fellow, and he looks kind of Asian, and those guys can catch trout, so you have to wonder what Paxson was thinking."

The Krause jokes don't work so well anymore because he has lost a lot of weight...lol

One problem with Reinsdorf's claims...the Bulls never got that shooting guard...

I think Brewer/Korver/Bogans has worked well this year. Brewer isn't a great jumpshooter, but takes and makes jumpshots.
Korver isn't a great defender, but he is willing to defend.
Bogans hits the 3 ball and plays tight defense.
I think the shooting guard rotation has worked wonderfully, even though there are 3 guards who can start.

Yeah, it worked so well GarPax worked overtime to try and replace it....it is the weakest link and has to be fixed...and no it hasn't worked wonderfully...go back and look at some of the posts on this forum over the past season. I guarantee you they will break their necks to address it next year...

Agree on the weakest link part. But if the 2 guard is considered a weak spot, especially with Rose as your point, you're in good shape.

But I think that the reason the Bulls lost most of their games wasn't because of the 2 guard. I think you mentioned something along that line here.

Definitely...but I was mainly speaking of Bogans. However, the position as a whole was woefully unproductive offensively. And you can't have that and expect to compete for a championship...unless you have another superstar besides Rose. And the Bulls don't have 2 superstars like...Miami. So Miami can have subpar play at a couple of positions...I hope Bogans plays well on both sides and the same for Korver and Brewer.

The biggest issue is that we don't have a 2 way player there. Brewer isn't much of a threat offensively and Korver gets exposed defensively. You need someone who can hold his own on both ends and preferably be able to finish and create turnovers.

At least the Bulls have options to throw out there with the 2 guard position. Obviously, you would prefer to fuse C.J., Korver, and Brewer together but they've proven they know how to use their talent and depth.

Not saying they haven't but we are consistently playing 4 on 5 somewhere. When you don't have multiple stars, it hurts you a bit. Particularly offensively. Its a flaw that can and should be fixed.
