OMG. My first Album was Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Cocker was one of the first to do the huge stadium concerts. He compiled some of the best musicians in the world, learned a bunch of songs in 2 weeks and went on world tour. The live album is one of the most sold albums of all time.

He was a gritty soul singer with arguably the most unique styles around. The first time I saw him was in 1974 then I saw him play twice in the 90s. He surrounded himself with the best musicians and back up singers and they were tight as a drum. You always got your money worth with him. There hasnt been a month go by in my life where I hadnt listened to his music from my collection.

Here is an impromptu recording in a bar after a show. Just raw singing from the heart

goddammit, i loved joe. I remember when I was really little, I asked if Joe Cocker was a black man. My pa said he was British. I was all wtf, but didn't try and test my old man about this. It's neat to me that soul and r&b can be so dominated by the UK, when our culture is what made that shit possible. At the same time i can't even believe i cant tell someone they are fucking Special person as a pigfucker dicklicking queen of all haters for the dumbest post for a dead man ever because I don't want to get banned, but Joe Cocker was the shiznit. For realz.

good thread tjodalv/ ommy.

I'm not as old as you so I wouldn't have been old enough to get in there before they shut down

Illinois Speed was my Buddy Kal David and Paul Cotton ..Kal is still playing.

Kal started out in "The Exceptions" with Pete Cetera and Marty Grebb..Left and formed "The Rovin' Kind" which morphed into ISP

Cetera left for "The Big Thing" (Chicago), and Grebb joined "The Buckinghams"

Cetera is retired living in Idaho, and Grebb is still doing studio work after a long stint with Bonnie Raitt

The "Rotary Connectiion" was Ceteras brother "Tim"

I always loved the "Youngbloods"
