Chris Drury would be the perfect 4th line center for the Hawks. He brings veteran leadership, can kill penalties and still has some offensive chops left. He was bought out by the Rangers today, so no worry about his Cambpell-esque contract.

What Buff said. . . plus with the buy out thing -basically NYR ends up paying for some of the contract and assuming some of the cap hit.

You guys aren't the least bit worried about his knee?

Not for the amount of money that I think it might take to get the guy. It is one of those situations where you put something out there, but if you get outbid, then -no big deal.

Imo, if you do this, it would be purely a depth signing, and taking a flyer on the guy.

If he had failed his physical the Rangers would not have been able to buy him out. They would have had to give him an injury settlement. So his knee is atleast good enough to pass a physical.

And like stated before, he will come cheap. The upside CLEARLY outweighs the downside.

I thought I read that he bypassed his physical in order to take the buyout...ea the "high road."

If Drury signs less then about 1 mil, it will be a steal. Not to mention he brings versatility to play both center & wing, so a PK of RJ and Drury would be pretty sweet.

It's a bit weird getting anxious for someone who's career is currently a big question mark.

I assumed he was a go. Clearly that isn't the case.

Has Drury signed with anyone yet? I wonder what he would be looking for and whether the Hawks could fit him under the cap.
