I think we should give him a tryout. He's a local kid (Glenbrook North), and can hit some outside shots well.

Just what we need. A guard who can hit "some" outside shots well.

scheyer would not even be at the top of the bench at this stage

what's wrong with depth?

what's wrong with a guy who wants to prove he can play in the NBA and has shown great skills at Duke and also is a near Chicago native

I dont see why not. If all goes we'll, these are the type of guys that will fill out our roster. Id take the kid from my hometown of N-Brook.

So the reason's we have are...

-He's a local kid.
-He's from Duke.
-and He can hit "some" outside shots.

Also add

-Because we will lack options after we blow out cap on two max FAs.

This is an end of the bench filler.

Him being from Chicago isnt really a strong selling point. Whereever Danny Ferry finds a job should give him a shot. Scheyer's more of Duke guy than a local guy.

I'll take any young NBA shooter as long as they develop well & aren't a complainer, lazy ass or hot head. (aka anyone but Mike Miller)

I'll even take a Dukie in situations like these & as long as he produces off the bench. Remember he'd be a rookie that'll back up guys. We got bigger fish to fry. Let's get these Top FA's & worry about the bench after that. :D

Jon Scheyer is not an NBA player.

Weaknesses: He's simply not strong enough ... at 6'5, 180lbs, he would get pushed around guarding NBA 2guards, and he's not quick enough to guard NBA point guards ... Lacks athleticism, explosiveness and does not have that quick first step that NBA point guards need ... His lack of upper body strength and poor leaping ability will really hurt when trying to finish in traffic in the pros ... His below average first step will prevent him from getting the open looks he sees in college, as well as potentially hurt his ability to get over screens defensively when you combine it with his lack of strength ... You wouldn't call him a pure 3 point specialist, he's not a pure point guard, and he's just not built enough to be a pure 2-guard, so it's obvious that he lacks a true position at the next level ...

Yeah. Scheyer is such a "local" kid he chose Duke over Illinois.

LOL at Scheyer providing "depth". If he sucks he doesn't provide anything.
