Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews broke Stan Mikita's record for most consecutive postseason games with at least one point - ESPN Chicago

CHICAGO -- With his sights set on bigger goals, Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews will let others focus on his individual achievements during this postseason.

And while he said Friday night he didn't feel like discussing setting the franchise record by picking up a point in his 12th straight playoff game, he did take a moment to acknowledge it with one interested fan.

Hawks legend Stan Mikita, who set the previous record in the 1962 playoffs, made his way into the Hawks dressing room to congratulate Toews after Chicago took a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference finals with a 3-2 overtime win over the San Jose Sharks.

"If it was something that happened during the regular season, I'd be willing to comment on it and talk about it a little bit more," Toews said. "It's a good feeling to be in the company of a great player and a great person like Stan Mikita.

"Especially when it's in the postseason, when the games matter the most."

Toews made a nice pass across the goal mouth to set up Patrick Sharp's power-play goal that tied the game 1-1 in the second period.

"It's a cool thing, but you have to give as much credit as you can to your teammates and your team," Toews said. "I just try to show up and try to play as good as I can every single game.

"You have to have a lot of things go right for you to accomplish something like that. So it's just a small thing. It's nice to enjoy, but we're inching closer as a team to where we want to be."

Toews finished with two assists to give him 24 points during the streak -- seven goals, 17 assists -- and 25 in the postseason, including 18 assists. He is four points shy of Denis Savard's franchise mark for most points in a postseason.

"It's pretty exciting to see him playing like this, especially in playoff time," Patrick Kane said. "It just seems like he's a big-game performer."

Very impressive Toews

pssst.....its the record for most consecutive games with a point.

The streak for just goals would be interesting to watch though.
