Agent: Jordan Hendry likely done with Chicago Blackhawks - ESPN Chicago

CHICAGO -- Yet another member of the Chicago Blackhawks' 2010 Stanley Cup winning team is apparently moving on, according to his agent Jeff Helperl.

Defenseman Jordan Hendry, whose 2010-11 season ended with a knee injury in February, is looking into playing in Europe or possibly the KHL. Hendry played in 37 games last season before tearing the ACL in his left knee during a check into the boards by the Phoenix Coyotes' Shane Doan.

Hendry is an unrestricted free agent and with recent additions Sean O'Donnell and Steve Montador along the blue line, the Hawks have very little room for another defenseman.

Hendry signed a one-year contract last summer after helping the Hawks to the NHL title the year before, the team's first in 49 years. He played in 43 regular season games and 15 playoff games that season.

Hendry has been in the Hawks organization since 2005-06 after going undrafted after a collegiate career at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

The Blackhawks shed more members of their Cup-winning team last month when they traded Troy Brouwer to the Washington Capitals and dealt Brian Campbell to the Florida Panthers.

Not big news, but still another player gone...

Apparently old Jesse needed to make a deadline -and decided to write a story about the bleeding obvious.

I do find it amazing that someone gets paid to do what he does, whatever it is... apparently looking at the depth chart and realizing that there isn't any room for a part time player who suffered a season ending injury ... after the team dealt 1 defenseman, signed 2 and indicated it was interested in signing their sole RFA defenseman -that they probably were not going to be making a move to sign their UFA defenseman.

Brilliant.

I make my point again, that you people of these boards know more about hockey than these professional writers. Probably care more about it too.

Eh, Jesse Rogers isn't so bad. Maybe I still have a soft spot for him after listening to all the laughably terrible calls he used to take on the Hawks post game shows, but I don't have any real issue with the guy. He's a hockey writer employed by ESPN.

Same goes for Hendry. Never really had a beef with the dude and wish him all the best. Guy got to be on a cup winner and he's looking to continue to make a living playing hockey. Good for him.

Somebody told me that Hendry didn't get his name on the Cup. Apparently there's a limit to the number of names and he didn't make the cut. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else and if I am I hope someone enlightens me. What a pisser that would be...

I like Hendry. Too bad. Leddy is really the only untradeable young D-man anyway. Buddies of mine think he's a future Norris winner...

NHL.com:

To have one's name engraved on the Stanley Cup certain requirements must be met. A player must have at least 41 games played with the club or one game played in the Stanley Cup Finals. However, in 1994 a stipulation was added to allow a team to petition the Commissioner for permission to have players' names put on the Cup if extenuating circumstances prevented them from being available to play.
