A. a means to give lebron one less mvp, because jordan is legacy protecting.

B. He actually thinks rose is the mvp.

C. Out of loyalty, he's endorsing a player from his former team.

Discuss.

I can't help, but be a little cynical. I think it's a combination of loyalty and legacy protecting.

It sure as hell isn't 'A'

He should be ten times more intimidated by the Kobe Bryant comparisons than the LeBron James comparisons. Bryant has five rings and might equal Jordan's six this June. (I'm not saying Kobe-MJ comparisons are legit, but he certainly should sweat Kobe over a player who hasn't won any rings yet at all and is widely considered to be Wade's 2nd man).

LeBron James needs to worry about the little details of his game like his footwork and developing a high-octane back-to-the-basket game. Otherwise, he may not even win one championship over his time with Miami.

I think it's a shame that James isn't better than he is. If he was dedicated enough, he could be the best player of all-time. But I don't see that kind of drive/dedication from him, as an observer.

I just think it's weird. The guy endorses rose, then follows up with, if he doesn't win, then he'll know how i felt.

Really MJ? Rose will know how you felt? I'd argue that lebron james will know how you felt.

I believe the answer is C because I still believe that Jordan believes that the MVP award should be given to the best player in the NBA. And I also believe that he believes Kobe Bryant is that player.

I believe it's just Bulls' loyality. The same reason as he said that he thought LeBron James should choose the Bulls in the Summer of 2010.

i'm on the other end of this. I think Lebron james will put the kobe conversation where it belongs. Lebron James is just such an incredible player. More importantly, i think when it's all over, Kobe won't be able to live up lebron James' accomplishments. If there's one player Jordan should fear, i think it should be james.

Jordan said he thought Lebron "WOULD" choose Chicago, not "should"...big, big difference there...

I don't think anybody thinks Lebron is Wade's sidekick at this time. That is Lebron's team now...

It's hard to argue with that. I just don't think that LeBron James is going to ever be taken as seriously as he should be (whether fair or unfair) because of joining a team that already won a title in '06 and a player who won them the Larry O'Brien trophy [Wade]).

James honestly could be the greatest if he had the dedication. So we'll just need to wait and see what happens. I happen to like Rose's attitude and work ethic at a young age moreso than I like that of James.

Fair enough about the first statement.

And come on... you should know better than to believe that second part. Wade is still getting MVP chants in Miami to this day. Ask a Cleveland fan what he thinks about that. Ask Charles Barkley what he thinks about that.

You want me to ask a Cleveland fan? Really? For an unbiased opinion? Really???

I'll ask Adrian Wojnarowski...

"Wade has started to say publicly what he’s been saying privately for a long time: Why don’t I get the ball when it matters? Miami’s no longer his town, and the Heat no longer his team. Didn’t you hear James? It isn’t our team. It isn’t D-Wade’s team.

My team."

Jordan also said in the beginning of the 1995-96 season (his first full season since he came back) that it was still Scottie Pippen's team until he could get reacclimated and prove that role is his.

If I was to point fingers and say who's team it is, I would point it as LeBron James. But, really, I would point my finger at both of those guys if I had that choice. James has been a little more vital to Miami's success this season, but has been terrible in the clutch. People who are saying that Wade needs his hands on the ball more are absolutely right, too.

There was a poll on SN asking each state who would you rather take the last shot if you were a Heat fan: James or Wade?

Wade won each state and the final margin was about 67-33.

So it is a little bold to say 'you don't think anybody' believes that this is James' Heat team and not Wade's Heat team.

What you are talking about is irrelevant. As far as what Jordan said. That was Jordan's team when he wore number 45...I remember...believe whatever you want.

That said, you are judging whose team it is based on a fan poll? That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever...and you pissed on your own argument. That is who THEY want to shoot the shot, Wade wants to shoot it...but who's shooting it? Exactly...

You based your entire response to my post on a quote. And I go ahead and tell you that Jordan said that it was Pippen's team and you just dismiss it? I don't see how that works, logically.

And I'm not judging anything based on a fan poll. The poll only proves you are wrong when you say that you don't think anybody believes this is Wade's team anymore.

My opinion is that Wade should be handling the ball in half-court sets and with the game on the line primarily in half-court sets due to the fact that he can more easily penetrate holes in the defense than the 6'8'' 270 lb. LeBron James can. My opinion is not based on a poll.

No, you brought up Charles Barkley...and a fan poll. Wojnarowski said what everybody knows. Lebron has taken over the team. To think he is Wade's sidekick at this point is very naive.

And by no means does YOUR opinion of who should take the last shot or who should have the ball have any bearing in actuality as to whose team it is.

As far as the Jordan thing, there are plenty of books documenting whose team it really was. Jordan told the media whatever he wanted them to believe. But by no means was that Pippen's team in 1995. Jordan's personality wouldn't allow that to be...Jordan was the man when he stepped on the floor in Indiana against the Pacers. And it was his team until he retired. When Jordan returned, he took over...Pippen went back to his role of playing good cop to Jordan's bad cop.

LeBron James has taken over the team. The guy is trying to be his Cavalier-self in Miami now. Being the score first point guard on offense essentially. Except instead of spot-up shooters and a low-post presence... he has Wade and Bosh- who are high-volume scorers/streaky shooters. I don't like how that is working out for Miami at all.

If it wasn't for that style by James then a lot of those same people who believe that it is James had taken over the team would think overwise. But I can assure you that isn't "everybody" as you claim... That, if anything, is the naive thing.

^never would I disagree with that. Basketball is a lot more complex for me to buy into something like 'Oh he should take the last shots therefore it's his team and not the better player.'

PS- I wouldn't take that article too seriously. It's just a bunch of overly sentimental drivel.

I went with both Jordan's earnest belief in Rose's credentials & MJ's support of his former team.

Good thread!

What reasons would Wojnarowski have to write a sentimental piece about Lebron James?

What you just said is VERY naive...because the article, written by someone in the know...is the antithesis of your beliefs, its drivel?

Sometimes you should just accept the truth and not dismiss it. Even if that means you are wrong.
