Its my first mechanical ever. I got a Corsair K65 RGB. It has Cherry MX Red switches.

I got this mostly cause I really like the form factor. Love the aluminum chassis and I like the raised button look. I also wanted a 10-keyless keyboard cause I don't have a lot of room on the pullout thing where I have my keyboard and mouse. And I have a wireless usb numeric keypad that I can use when I am doing work shit at home.

Anyway, I really like the form factor on this, but it only come is red switches. From reading the descriptions of the different switches, I think that browns would probably be the best fit for me. I figured, **** it, its my first mechanical keyboard, I will try the reds and see what I think and return it if I hate it.

I am really hoping I can get used to typing on a keyboard with no feedback click thing. We'll see I guess.

This is what I got:

I do, and I like them. My only experience with mechanical prior was with an old IBM spring keys. Knew I didn't want the audible "click," and waned on tactile feedback. Really didn't want the stiffness of the black switches, especially after hours of gaming. In the end, I went with a Filco Majestouch-2 NKR 104 ASCII with cherry MX reds. Very high quality and well built. Got it about 4 years ago when the reds weren't as readily available. Wish I had back-lighting, but not going to spend the money on something cosmetic. About the same actuating force as the browns.

I bought it for pure gaming. I've read it's not the preferred switch for keyboarding though.

Good keyboard. I have the K90, and it's been my main keyboard for the last 3 years.

And don't dog the Model-M keyboard. I have a few of them, and they rock, also are highly desirable. Everyone has different finger strength and preferences. And IMO, both provide outstanding feedback. I also have a pre-color Cherry keyboard , CyMotion Master. Very under-rated switches that take abuse like no other. I actually wish they brought these switches back as well, because they are fast as hell and have a nice minimal click audibility that is still present but not like the Blue switches(which I also love).

I just love mechanical keyboards period, and rarely have issues typing or gaming on any of them.

Also been wanting a hybrid switch keyboard forever. Some keys are better with heavier resistance, while others are better with minimal resistance. I wouldn't mind having all my non-spacebar bottom row using superblacks and blues for the number row, etc.

I got the K70 RGB with red switches as well bot. The only thing is that I already swapped out my key caps and added rubber dampeners so that my keys don't make as loud of a sound when they bottom out. It also made the keys bottom out faster which is nice. Less key travel is fine with me since these switches actuate at half press anyways.

I am using these black translucent keycaps: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-univ...r-black-full-keycap-set-front-side-print.html

And these are the dampeners: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/cherry-mx-switch-keycap-o-rings-dampeners-50a-0.4mm-130-pcs.html

If you're one of those people that needs to look at the keyboard to know what key is being pressed then I don't suggest changing the key caps to these since you will no longer be able to see what key is what in the dark while using the keycaps I am using. I got them because it makes RGB feature of the keyboard that much more impressive. In the dark the keyboard looks badass as **** with the translucent keycaps. I believe they also make perfectly transparent caps too but I wanted to keep the black key look. I will post a short video showing the keyboard in action if I remember later tonight.

Bot, can you configure different colors for the back-lighting?

Yes, on any of the RGB series keyboards you can change the color of each individual key. I haven't even attempted to make my own lighting profiles other than a basic solid color to match my case's lighting but some people make unique and complicated profiles that show off the color functionality of the RGB series.

So it hasn't even been 24 hours yet and I love this keyboard. Can't really explain why I guess, but I fucking love how it feels. Love the sound too. And love the look too.

I love the metal frame of the K70 and its wrist-rest is pretty boss too. Nevermind the RGB functionality, that goes without saying. I am going to record a short vid here showing the few user-made profiles I downloaded.

wtf, those profiles are fuckin cool. Ima try the corrosive. And yeah, I love the aluminum chassis on all the k series boards. I would have got one even without the lights. I was thinking about getting the old k65 but it doesnt have a wrist pad which is really nice.

Here you go bro: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=248

Have at it, that is where I have been getting my profiles from. Tons of user created stuff there and there are even several users that apparently are willing to take requests and make them for you as well. Pretty nice.
