What’s most disturbing about yesterday is if you watch closely the way JF1 was trying to navigate the pocket, he was clearly building on all the progress he has made this season….. and the line failed him.

During the first 3 to 4 series of the game (possibly more) I saw a guy who:
a) could have quickly decided to take off out of pocket and could have avoided the sack like he did during the early part of the season,
but instead he
b) was trying to build on his most recent , last 4 to 6 game, growth in the pocket and was hanging in there trying to navigate the pocket/ride the pocket — but his line kept letting him down. He would stay in the pocket, move left - bam - sack! He would move up in the pocket - bam - sack! He would move right in the pocket - bam - sack!

Many of those sacks he could have done what he did in the early part of the season - first sign of trouble - take off. But the kid was trying to build on his growth. It’s a damn shame this team/this coaching staff/this turn style Oline keeps trying to stunt his growth. That said, I could see what Fields was TRYING TO DO yesterday and his line simply would not allow him to do it.

That has to be a positive sign moving forward if we can just shore up the line and get him another playmaker or two the throw to — ideally at least a true #1.

Is there a QB in the league who has down more, with less, this season? Fields has to be #1 in that department.

the "#1" that he was provided in 2022 wasn't even #1 caliber. that's how much of a shitshow this situation is.

Honestly....he looked spent/injured/disinterested after his long run down to the 5 on the 2nd drive of the game.

There were plays/throws after that to be made but he wouldn't pull the trigger and looked lethargic....which is exactly what happens when you have a qb that is 6th in the nfl in...rushing

He tried to do too much. To those saying 'just get rid of it' ... to who? Sure he can just throw the ball away on every play and he definitely should have sometimes to avoid sacks, but this idea that if he can just get the ball out quicker is flawed. To who? Should he just take risky throws to Pettis/ESB/Harry and end up throwing a pick? Makes no sense

if you're near the sideline and nothing is there, then throw it away. he has taken sacks in those situations

As I said he definitely needs to take that play more often.

However, when you are down and need to score at some point you need to try to make something happen or you are just throwing the ball away play after play after play. yes he needs to throw the ball away, but at some point he tried to make more happen.

He was horrific yesterday. Holding on to the ball forever, looked like he had blinders on, complete tunnel vision, refusal to take what the defense was giving him.

The o-line was pathetic but Fields regressed yesterday.

Be honest with yourself.

Coming into the year you like many others were 100pct sure the Bears roster was > Giants, Jaguars and Lions. Remember how baddy bad bad baddy bad bad these teams were heading into the year? BOY WERE WE WRONG

#2 OVERALL PICK AGAIN? RIDING A 9 GAME LOSING STREAK. WTF

It's been a long season. You know Fields feels it. That's what yesterday looked like. Just going through the motions to get it over with. That team needs quite a fucking overhaul. I'm really hoping that Poles can do some magical shit in the draft and free agency. We need so many players.

It was a bad game by any measure but it was easy to see him go through progressions with what I would imagine was a WTF look on his face.
