Yeah....throw all of our cap dollars at OL about to be on the wrong side of 30 shortly.

Thats what a new GM would want to do...

thought the cap was healthy
30 million in cap space with 47 signed with a rookie class still to sign and signing the remaining, and add Jensen, Armstead and perhaps Godwin would pretty much wipe that out

Yep. The "$47 million in cap" is deceiving. That's with a ton of holes to fill.

Poles said he's a fan of 2nd and 3rd wave free agent signings, meaning he's a bargain shopper on the FA market. I like that.

I'm speaking from a philosophy standpoint but yea. If big money free agents were truly worth the big money they want then their previous team wouldn't let them go. Might as well make smaller commitments for less time to lesser guys who can fill out the roster capably until you manage to draft someone to take over.

  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
  2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
says the bears should target both Jensen and Armstead in FA, apparently unaware of the salary cap
They should target them…..getting both of them is a dream though. Targeting them isn’t.

It’s how they found Akiem Hicks and Mario Edwards, among others. Once thought of good prospects who struggle their first/rookie contract then figure it out in a prove it situation, usually before a payday.

Probably not a good way to find a few OL. For every Roberto Garza there are countless Germaine Ifedis.

Kaplan is a huge meatball. It's funny to hear him say dumb meatball shit, and then have Kreutz, Briggs, or Alex Brown correct him.

Guys like Ifedi are fine one year stop gap players. Poles needs to focus on building a complete OL for the next 3 or 4 years +. I don’t think he will have to sign stop gap players as starters.

When he goes shopping he either looks for the dented cans or dents them himself to get a deal.

Same goes for his free agency. He might look at some 2021 season ending IR players to see if he can get a deal and then wait for them to become healthy, seeing that 2022 is a restocking year.

If he wants both of those guys he can afford it. There is plenty of cap flexibility after this year.

Now, if its smart to spend that much on the oline is another conversation that Ryan Pace would have never had.

Yes to Armstead. Move Jenkins back to his natural RT spot.
