I think this is a pretty good prediction. I can´t see them winning 70+ games.

This record is for eternity!

If they don't break the record, the reason will be because the league is tougher now than it was then...and the bullseye on the Heat's back is bigger...

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. North Carolina Tar Heels
They will get to 62.

I don't think they will beat the record though. Although, I think this team has the best shot to do it.

Before the season is played, it's hard to imagine any new team winning 70 games.

Before the 95-96 season, do you think any Lakers fans were going "Yeah the Bulls will break 70!". No, they probably figured Jordan was older, Rodman wasn't as good as Grant, and the team had no chance at 70.

So anything can happen. That said, there are some all time great teams, and none of them hit 72 besides the Bulls.

I'd give the Heat a win total in the mid to upper 60s as well though. LeBron won over 60 in both of his last two seasons with Mo Williams as his second best player. They found a way to add quality depth to that team, it's not just a bunch of minimum level players, so I think they'll be very good with a legit chance at 72.

I don't think it would be so crazy if Miami didn't even win 60 games. One somewhat significant injury and it's practically locked-up that they won't get to 60-22. And, even then, 60 wins would be a great season for anybody.

Hell, the 2007 Mavs (that lost to 8th-seed GSW) went 67-15. That was in a shitty period in terms of quality NBA teams... but nevertheless... if they can have that kind of season... so can Miami.

I would be completely shocked if Miami won less than 51 games and just as shocked if they won 74. That's all I'll say about that.

And once I went down their schedule... the Lakers' 33-game winning streak could be broken by the Heat this year. There is an extremely easy part of their schedule prior to January.

With that said, I'll take the Lakers or healthy Boston over Miami (for now).

Not sure why you'd think the league is tougher now after a decade of straight-to-the-pro's and one-and-done'rs. It takes guys ten years of playing in the league to learn how to win now.

I think it is very likely that Miami gets the record for the simple fact that there isn't a lot of pride left among the players anymore. Look at Bosh and LBJ quitting down the stretch and in the playoffs. Now guys like Melo and CP are just playing out the string and waiting until they can move on. 15-20 years ago half of the teams in the league made it a point of honor not to roll over. I'd say there are maybe half a dozen teams that won't roll over now. That's why an old team like the C's can play .500 ball for 2/3rds of the season and still make it to the 7th game of the championship. And with the fact that there isn't as much knowledgeable basketball talent (guys who really know how to play to win, not just get theirs) in the league, I'd say Miami at worst only has to worry about playing their best maybe once a week.

Miami should be disappointed if they don't win at least 65. LBJ and some solid vets is worth 60 in today's league.

I think they will be in the 60-62 win range. They aren't going to want to rack up the minutes on their main guys. Wade and Miller have injury concerns and they aren't going to want to burn out Bron, Bosh and Haslem. They will rest guys down the line. Looking at their rotation, they just don't have the depth to accomplish that goal without burning guys out.

I've said all along that they could win 70..but I don't think they can win 73.

Losing just 9 games in an NBA season is tough. I think they'll win more than 66. James led the Cavs to 66 wins in 09 with Mo Williams and Big Z. I think Wade and Bosh will add a few more wins to that.

That Cavs team had depth at every position though. They were a team built to win in the regular season. And lose in the playoffs.

The Heat have enough depth to win plenty of games.

People are reaching for straws when it comes to depth and these guys playing big minutes. They'll play the same amount of minutes they always have. They are all in their prime and capable of playing big minutes if needed.

The Cavs didn't win 66 games in 2009 because of depth. They won because of LeBron James obviously. And now the Heat will win the title with James, Wade and Bosh I believe.

They have plenty of players now. Mike Miller, Udonis Haslem, Mario Chalmers, Eddie House, Juwon Howard, Big Z. Not sure what else they need when they got three of the best players in the NBA?

I just think people want to hate the Heat so much they are trying to come up with every excuse as to why they won't win. They're gonna win and win a lot. I don't think they'll win 73, but they can win 70. And I think they'll beat the Lakers for the title this year. I think the Lakers are the only team that can knock them off in a 7-game series.

I think the main point is that Bosh is always going to be a guy who misses 10 games. Not enough depth to overcome that to win 72 games

the cavs always had nothing but role players. here's the thing, they had two or three role players at the same level at every position. they cavs were nothing if not deep. the heat are VERY injury prone because the bench is old, bosh has to guard dwight howard, and wade is an injury concern

Well I see that you didn't read anything I posted in this thread, because if you did, you would've realized that I'm not one of those people.

Juwan Howard and Eddie House are not guys you should be bringing up if you want to make a case for this team to get to 70 games. And Zydrunas Ilgauskas is nowhere near the player he was only 2 seasons ago.
