I'll reserve judgement on that until Kane puts up similar career numbers. There's a long way to go before his retirement.
Mikita's 14th on the NHL points list.
From the link above:
"Stan Mikita spent all of his 22 years in the NHL with the Hawks and is the franchise's all-time leading scorer with 1,467 points and is second to Hull in goals with 541. The native of Sokolce, Czechoslovakia, won the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player in 1967 and 1968, the Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer in 1964, 1965, 1967 and 1968 and the Lady Byng Trophy for gentlemanly play in 1967 and 1968, making him the only player in league history to win the Triple Crown of awards in the same season — and he did it twice. The center was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983."
From the 6os through the mid-70s, the Hawks were a great team, Mikita, Hull, Espo, etc., but only won 1 Cup (1961). In 1971, When I was 12, the Hawks played the Canadiens in the Cup finals. They were up 3 games to 2, and lost game 6 in Montreal, and Game 7 at Chicago Stadium, after being up to start the 3rd period, which was devestating for a young boy. Even worse, we played to Canadiens again in the 1973 Finals, but Hull had left for the WHA, and the Canadiens beat us again, 4 games to 2. Another disappointment, though I finally recovered, in 2010, thank god.
At least Stan and Bobby got their ring in 1961. The person i really feel sad for is HOFer Tony Esposito. Despite a great career with the Hawks, never got a ring.
