Kickoffs to Hester

Maybe its to keep the risk of a fumble or muff down, but why doesn't the ST let Hester field these squib kicks?

It's a bit risky to let him run from wherever he is on the field to field them. It's generally better off for whoever is closest to the ball to take what they can get. More often than not it's a gimmie field position anyway.

Steelers did A Good Job putting the ball where they wanted, NFL players are too fast to mess around with pitching it back to Hester IMO

Because what if he runs backwards 10 yards and then gets tackled?

No shit, Its 50 yard return or -10 for that guy

I agree, I just saw a few kick offs where Hester was ready to field it but someone scooped it right in front of him.

Or if everybody stands around watching him run up, and the kicking team recovers it.
