I tore my Meniscus on Sunday and just wondering if anyone has ever done this before. Apparently it's a common injury in us older idiots. Hurts like all hell and just wondering what others experience with this injury has been.

I can't believe the pain and it's only a minor injury. I have a new respect for those who suffer more serious knee injuries. I couldn't imagine a knee pain being worse than this but there are far more serious knee injuries which I am sure are 100 times more painful.

My advice for all...WATCH YOUR DAMN KNEES!!!

HAHAH! I KNEW YOU WERE ON DRUGS!

hehehehe im actually not even drugged up. They gave me nothing good but standard stuff. Im just trying to distract myself away from the pain which is driving me freaking craaaazy!!! I have had a lot of injuries in my life. Broken bones, ruined ankles, torn or snapped tendons, etc etc but none have ever compared to the discomfort of this injury. Sleeping is nearly impossible. Can't straighten my knee at all so the muscles in my feet and legs are tightening up all the time and it just feels like someone is taking a small nail and hammering it into my knee.

The wooooorst part is I tore it by standing up after screwing in a lower door hinge. THat's IT!!! Im officially old. I injured myself by standing up!!!

Jesus dude, that sucks... as someone how has lived with chronic back pain most of my life... if they give it to you use it. But only if you need it. Take it easy man... at least you have a mule to take care of you.

Tell Ponikarovsky to lay down so you don't have to kneel next time you...

Somewhere this side of sanity.
Folded my right knee back at a Xmas party in '87, tore the meniscus and almost severed the bottom ligament of my patella. South Bend Sports Medicine does a helluva job with arthroscopic surgery. Was back up walking on it in less than 2 months.

I tore something in my knee a couple years ago, (by descriptions online it sounds like my acl.) I may not have actually tore it, but just severely strained it, but the snapping noise doesnt bode well.

It was during the big snow storm in the chi area feb 2011. I lost my balance when digging my car out of 4 feet of snow and landed awkward as hell all my weight on my left leg, and the worst pain I ever felt shot right through my knee and I heard a snap, it was actually nauseating, but the pain didn't last long (which is apparently consistent with peoples descriptions of tearing their acl). After about 20-30 seconds the pain subsided, and it was just sore (and not horribly sore), for about a week then the pain went away. The only chronic problem as a result from that, is I can't sit very long with that leg bent, it will get annoyingly sore and I have to straiten my leg out.
