My favorite teams
Just wanted to toss out a review on a product I think is the deal of the century. I have my Bowers and Wilkins P5 headphones for travel and love them. But for home I wanted something very lightweight with an open back so I could hear what was going on around me. These are specifically for use on my Audioengine D1 dac/amp connected to my Mac.
So, I have been dicking around with all kinds of headphones in the $200-400 range to see if I could supplant my $25 Koss UR 40
To my shock I have been unable to find anything better. The latest is a set of AKG 702 open headphones that have great reviews on all the audiophile sites. I have also tried various expensive Sennheisers and Grados. I find the Koss UR 40 to sound every bit as good. Also, they require much less power to play at high levels. This is really important if you play MP3 that arent flawless that may distort at high levels. Finally, the Koss are incredibly light and comfortable. You will forget you are wearing them
On the downsize the construction is not tank-like so they are best suited for playing on your computer. Also the cable is really thin.
But for $25 these are the best headphones you will find under $200.
