Marcus Kruger’s team has been eliminated from the playoffs in the Swedish league and looks like he will be coming over to the Chicago Blackhawks as early as this week. Below is the Google translation from an article stating he might play tomorrow vs the Florida Panthers.

“Two days ago he went out of the SM-finals with Djurgarden. Now, Marcus Krueger a dream chance to debut in the NHL. According to SPORT-Expressen going 20-year-old over to the NHL club Chicago Blackhaws and most indications of a lightning debut against Florida on Wednesday at home in the United Center. – Pelle (Martens, head coach) does not intend to use him in the World Cup, so we will stop nothing, “said the Swedish Ice Hockey Association chairman Christer Englund.”

Marcus Kruger was selected in the 5th round pick (149th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. His cap hit is $900,000.

This season Kruger led his team the Djurgarden Elitserien in scoring with 6 goals and 29 assists for 35 points and a plus/minus rating of +12.

Copy and pasted from the 300 level...I know the Bowman's are extremely high on the guy, but he's very small.

[font="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"]Report: Hawks call on Sweden for reinforcement

Tuesday, 03.22.2011 / 10:53 AM / News

NHL.com

The Chicago Blackhawks are suddenly a little short at the center position, so they are reportedly looking overseas for help as the defending Stanley Cup champions try to hang on to a position in the top eight of the Western Conference standings.

Marcus Kruger, a fifth-round pick in the 2009 Entry Draft from Sweden, is on his way join the Blackhawks, according to a report by the Swedish news outlet SPORT-Expressen, which was later confirmed by his Swedish Elite League club's website.

Kruger, who turns 21 in May, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks this summer but decided to spend one more season in the SEL. He led Djurgardens IF, a team based in Stockholm, with 35 points (6 goals) in 52 games this season. His team was knocked out of the SEL playoffs Sunday.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 172 pounds, Kruger was ranked as the No. 5 prospect in Chicago's system in the Future Watch issue of The Hockey News. Kruger was ranked No. 6 among Blackhawks prospects by the website Hockey Future's earlier this month.

Chicago has an immediate need at center because of a pair of key injuries. Center Dave Bolland is out indefinitely with a concussion, and sometimes center Patrick Sharp left Chicago's game Sunday against Phoenix with an undisclosed lower-body injury.

The Blackhawks are currently sixth in the West, but only point clear of Dallas and Calgary, who are ninth and 10th in the conference.

He's 5'11''. 170-5. At 20 years old he'll be fine size wise. I don't really remember this guy at prospects camp, I was to focused on others.

He's #32 in this video and scores a few cool goals throughout the video. If there so high on him I'd love to see what he can bring.

Will look forward to all the moan and whine from the braintrust at the O-board when Krüger doesn't score a hattrick in his first game.

Can't wait to see him play. Was a bit surprised he has a chance of going directly to the NHL. Would've assumed a call up from Rockford 1st.

Because they want Kruger here. They wanted him here to start the year and he refused. He's better than anything in the system at Center without question.

Although it will be a transition into the NA game so I understand your question.

Bad news on Bolland if this is happening. And Kubina is allowed to play which is fucking a joke.

Bolland and Sharp are done for the year. The only way this makes sense.

I like Kruger a lot, definitely a top 5 prospect for us and probably more advanced than anyone in the system. I'm not sure he'll be a 2nd line C right away but I can't see myself being disappointed in him unless he really bombs it.

Hate the news with Bolland/Sharp but I love this. This is a bad news/good news deal for me, I'm excited to see him play. I'd like to see what he can do in Frolik's spot... maybe he can provide some more consistent production.

Posted in wrong thread, but it did get a +1 (Kruger, is that you?):

Interested to see what he does here... from camp I recall him being one of the best passers and he created a lot of scoring chances for his line. Also was a good two-way player.

Frolik has been playing wing.

Kruger will not be replacing Frolik, who has played just fine since arriving.

I gave you that +1, just because you are awesome.

Nah, I just agreed with you, his passes at camp were great, he really had some great offensive instincts. I think he would fit well, too bad he only has 10 games to hop on and make an impact. We'll see what happens.

Yeah last game he did rotate with Kopecky, because he sucks at center. The 4 games prior to that he was at C.

Frolik/Kruger/Hossa... I'd like to see that. Could be a good line for the future.

Hawks have been labeled as "fucked" all year by people writing them off as early as November. Yet here they are, right in the hunt with alot of other teams for home ice advantage. At game 72 last year, they had 236 goals for...at 234 this year. Seems to me the offensive depth is still there - with this team having quite a bit more injuries and with this "lack of depth" perception.

This team all year has fought throught the adversity and will again here. I'm excited to see this Kruger kid and hopefully can fill the center void thats been needed. Alot to ask of a 21 year old - but Scotty has always liked him.

Just time, once again, for others to step up and I'm confident they will.

I am looking forward to see Kruger play. Definitely trial by combat, but what a great opportunity for the 20 yo.
