Tom Thibodeau uttered a phrase that scares the hell out of me."We were searching," Thibodeau said. "I was confident in Kurt's low post defense. We wanted to give Griffin a different look. He was having his way with us. We...

James Johnson is really the only option. Thomas is washed up and Scalabrine does nothing positive.

Is JJ supposed to magically get better with no PT. You have a perfect excuse to play him, and what? Keep him as your karate cheerleader?

not true, Scal opens up opportunities for everyone else. He is a great passer and people sag off so he is open a lot of the time and is more than capable of making an open 3.

more than capable?

i'd argue that's more than an exaggeration.

i'd go with jj, just because there aren't many sf's that can get 2 blocks and play decent defense.

Johnson isn't a complete black hole, he has to be the choice, he is very athletic and needs time to progress.

JJ has all the tools to be a very good player in this league, all but 1, which is bball IQ. It's vastly improved this season, thanks to the tutelage of Pip, but he's gonna still make ALOT of mistakes out there. In situations such as this, coaches tend to rely on their vets to weather the storm. Thomas was brought in for a situation like this so he will play. I wouldn't mind seeing more JJ out there, his energy & hustle has been spectactular so far, but it's doubtful he gets a lion's share of minutes.

Scalabrine's role was to help transition coach T's gameplan from the Celtics. Thomas tried to prove himself Saturday but only managed 3 points and fouling out.......JJ seems like the best option.

Scalabrine shouldn't even be in this conversation.

All he is, is an old 80's style small forward who needs to be out of the league.

I support all Bulls' players, but Kurt Thomas and James Johnson are way better options, to give minutes, than Scal.

People before me said give JJ a try...I agree.

When you said try Johnson and then put in Kurt if something goes wrong...something went wrong. Johnson couldn't fix that, he is not even an option to fix what was wrong at that point. I just didn't understand how Thomas and Johnson have anything to do with each other when it comes to the rotation because they are completely different players playing different positions...that was the point I was making.

Thomas and JJ are practically the same size Kurt might have one inch on JJ and lil bit weight but that's it. I know JJ can't play C whatsoever and Kurt can to an extent. Sorry Hou....

jj and kurt both weigh about the same. JJ and kurt are both about 6-9. Kurt thomas was a better post defender, but he's really nothing more than a foul machine right now. They weren't even smart fouls. they were ridiculous fouls. Some of them were the refs fault, but jesus crap, why was he out there?

no you're right, kurt thomas and JJ play different positions, and have different roles, but, luol deng plays pf on this team for stretches. deng isn't a post player. his post defense isn't amazing. he's not a shot blocker. He's a smart player, and he can rebound, but he's not a pf. With that said, atleast jj averages 2 block per night as a sf with freakish athleticism. plus he's not bad as a perimeter defender. he's not gonna kill you on boards anymore than KT's lack of effort.

WTF!!!!! What makes you think Kurt Thomas and Johnson are the same size??? What are you people watching??? Kurt is a PF/C and James Johnson is a wing player! Johnson is not as big as Deng is right now....Kurt has to be close to 250 and Johnson has to be around 220 at this point. Griffen would eat him alive.

You are looking at the stat sheets as if they don't lie...and how do you judge Thomas as having a lack of effort. You throw him out there against an absolute beast and then question his effort...based on what?

And what "freakish athleticism" does JJ have? WTF??? Tyrus is a freakish athlete...not Johnson...Rose is a freakish athlete...not Johnson. And what does Johnson's two blocks have to do with anything...he's Mutombo now? Good grief man...
