Who the Lakers like is Chicago’s Kirk Hinrich (even though is offensive numbers this year are basically the same as Derek Fisher's). Chicago wants to move Hinrich… but that is where things start to get complicated.

Hinrich is overpaid and expensive -- he is owed $9 million next year, $8 million the year after that. The Lakers are already paying Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom and Ron Artest a lot of money in that time. Hinrich would be another $17 million for offensive option number five in the Lakers scheme.

To make it work, the Lakers need to shed salary, they need to trade Sasha Vujacic and the $5.5 million he is owed next season.

Reports are the Lakers are working on a complex, three team trade that would send Hinrich to the Lakers, Chicago’s talented forward Tyrus Thomas plus Vujacic to Portland, and Adam Morrison plus another expiring deal and a first round pick to Chicago. However, another team’s general manager said there was one big problem with that:

"What has, or will kill this," one GM said, "is that Portland just won't take Vujacic on."

What do you think? I'd like to cobble some cash together to make this happen....maybe the Bullspodcasters.com can take on Vujacic's salary. We'll give him his own podcast. I'd be down with this deal, although I'd prefer the rumored Ray Allen deal.

  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
We get a first rounder for this year's draft I'm guessing? That should turn into someone decent I would think. Morrison would be pretty much useless. Depending on who that expiring is (Steve Blake?) then that player could be either useless or useful. Not sure why Portland goes down with this. You get rid of Hinrich's deal which is all exciting and stuff. Sure why wouldn't we do it? It all goes in line with the 2010 plan.

I like the Ray Allen deal better too...too bad that supposedly it was Tony Allen and not Ray Allen that was offered, though I guess that wouldn't be too bad either.
